It’s the same starters as last year. Only thing prep replaced on OL/DL was the DEs. My memory is not great, but my eyes are.
They looked like college men.
The announcers mentioned it over & over too about their size & IRON still hung tough & missed being undefeated by one point.
Their O/D lines averaged 6 foot 5 & 268 pounds & they werent slow.
Also preps offense and defensive line is legit this year. Someone earlier said they weren’t. They are. They went and picked a few dudes up.
This game is going to come down to one thing. Whether special teams and field position come into play. If prep has to use their special teams in pivotal parts of the field. Ironton will take advantage and beat them. If not, prep will win. That’s my prediction

Trust me. They got some dudes. Don’t believe those max prep rosters. # 58 Will Bailey was a sophomore last year. He grew into a senior this year. Ironton had better get control of those holdings, so many not called on top of the ones they did call. Prep defense is better than WC or Portsmouth. Time to see what the kittens are made of.

Good news in this game is they won’t have to worry about constant unsportsmanlike play from the other team as it is dealt with by the opposing coach.BuckeyeBlood wrote: ↑Sat Nov 09, 2024 5:26 pm Ironton had better get control of those holdings, so many not called on top of the ones they did call. Ironton relies a lot on individual speed offensively. Prep will limit that more than any other D5 team. Will need to run it consistently this week as those chunk plays will just be harder to come by. If they can give Schreck time, passing game will be fine.
Defensively Ironton has the guys to match up with Prep passing it. I don’t see Prep moving it consistently through the air. Play action stuff could be effective if they establish the run. I think the game will be won or lost by Ironton keeping Prep from getting 5-7 yards on 1st and 2nd down running the ball. If they keep Prep in 3rd and 7 or 8, life gets much tougher for them. If they can stay on schedule, run the ball, and control the game, it will be an absolute dogfight.
Winner of this one won’t see a better collection of players the rest of the way. May see a better football team, but these two have the most individual talent in D5. I think Ironton is the better team, but they’ll need to earn it Friday.

I’m curious, if HP is so good why did they struggle against Burg at HP in the middle of the season? Burg probably should have won that game but couldn’t get a big play on offense. I don’t think Brown was at full speed yet either. He has been 4unning really good here lately Burg’s defense held them to I think 12 points.
I believe Ironton wins by 3 scores.

Well. It’s because we are better. The weather from hurricane kept anyone from passing. That bodes well in our favor. Prep and Ironton are regional favorites. On a good night , burg could upset them.yabbadabbadoo wrote: ↑Sat Nov 09, 2024 6:46 pm I’m curious, if HP is so good why did they struggle against Burg at HP in the middle of the season? Saw reports on Social media where one of HP star players. RB/MLB went down with a serious knee injury last night. If that’s true. How does that change the game and game plan for both teams.
Re: Week 13 : #4 (9-2) Harvest Prep vs #1 (11-1) Ironton
DezMond Porter #17 left the game vs Columbus Acedemy not sure if it was a serious injury.
Re: Week 13 : #4 (9-2) Harvest Prep vs #1 (11-1) Ironton
When do injury reports come out? Tuesday or Wednesday?
In all seriousness, I have to imagine this would be a major difference. Can Prep run it like they need to without their best back? Can they keep Ironton from running it without their top LB? Ironton already tests depth, now you have to reach deeper.

Clarkson North isn’t very good. St. Edward is not the usual St. Edward. St. Edward lost to 4A Boyle County, Ky. by 17 at home. Look at the Massillon score of 45-6 with Massillon calling the dogs off. As for Prep’s o-line, I’ve seen them twice. I saw them at Ashland and I saw them play Burg. Their o-line is good, not great. Their d-line however is scary good and Ironton has 1 really good o-lineman. Aside from that 1, Ironton’s o-line is less than average. Ironton’s athletes will have to make big plays to stay in this one. Terry needs 15-20 touches in this one.XandOs wrote: ↑Sat Nov 09, 2024 8:28 amHarvest Preps OL isn’t very good. Prep is nowhere near as big but their bigs are talented unlike Clarkson’s unathletic, slow line. Prep is deeper at the skill positions and has a QB that can kill you with the run. Prep has several athletes who can run with Terry anywhere he goes. Without Terry, Ironton isn’t in the game with Clarkson as they had nobody who could match up with him. This will come down to the Ironton QB and RB play. If Terry can run DBs off, the Ironton QB and RBs can move the ball efficiently on the ground opening up Terry for a few big plays. I like Ironton to win this one, but the QB play under pressure will be crucial.
You’re talking about Clarkson North like they aren’t very good. They played toe to toe with St. Ed’s (I watched it on TV couple Saturdays ago) they also just beat St. Iggy who is down and went 1-9 but also played one of the toughest schedules in the country.

Drew Pasteur has Ironton by 20, can’t imagine that. That St. Eds you talk about not being very good about beat the best team in Ohio ranking wise Moeller In Cinncinatti a couple weeks ago. The last time Ironton beat prep. There’s still 3 of the starting Offensive lineman on the team. Layne, Gossett and Bump started that game against a good prep team that many didn’t think Ironton could beat. I’m not impressed by beating CA. They were in a dogfight with Piketon week 11. Prep was beating CG 12-0 week 11 with like 1 min left on clock in 2nd qtr. they punched one in to go up 20-0 right before half.GoBigI wrote: ↑Sat Nov 09, 2024 9:20 pmClarkson North isn’t very good. I believe Prep loses to Canadian team so I don’t think this is the best team Ironton has faced. They have some real good athletes but are just avg upfront. Big for a D5 team but slow and lack foot speed on OL. The DL is better than OL. I’m looking forward to Friday night. Ironton plays with a chip on their shoulder.

I heard #17 possibly tore his acl in the game fridaywobycat wrote: ↑Sat Nov 09, 2024 7:38 am There are two types of teams that can beat Ironton. One that runs between the tackles really well and solid on defense. Or a team who can match athleticism. Prep is all 3.
Prep will be the most athletic team Ironton has faced. Prep also has a legitimate player like terry. Number 17 is big time.
If it comes down to field position and special team play, Ironton will win. If that doesn’t come into play, prep will advance. Prep has played a lot more disciplined this year but still isn’t the best at it.
