LOL, don't pay attention to the "did you play" crowd. I am convinced 90% of the people on here haven't played, but you're still entitled to your opinion. I played for Coach Davis, and enjoyed 4 years of really good football. What I am seeing looks nothing like what we had. I am proud of the weight room program and how hard the kids are working, but it's not translating to the field. They have some decent pieces, but up front has been an issue for years. Not sure how to fix it, but it's broken.

I played from 96-2000 at the Peake, and I can tell you this doesn't look like a fundamentally sound team. I think Coach is a fantastic person and I believe he would be a fantastic coordinator and support staff, but this program needs a change imo. Look at a Coach Clark coached team and this team and tell me it doesn't look drastically different.Almost Champions wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2024 5:11 pmsoooooo.....you dint play......but you are some guru on the fundamentals of the game. ... what position? I don't recall anyone with that nickname. Then again, took too many hits to the head through the years so my memory can be shotty.

My handle has nothing to do with a nickname. I'm a big hockey fan, love the lanche, hence the name. Good to hear from you Bear, great center at the Peake.
Again, this is nothing personal. I really like coach, he's a fantastic person, HOF good guy.
However, often times a change of leadership is necessary. A new vision, a new voice, new staff. It appears that's what is needed in this case from my observations.
The AD is responsible for hiring a new coach, or at the Peake it appears to be the BOE. I don't have a magic crystal ball, but imo a new direction is needed.

Avalanche.. are you for real? I say this gently, but if you think you can compare the two programs then you must not have attended games. Not even a close comparison. Not to take away from athletes. Clark was handed a program and Knipp had to build one. Again, get over your hate for Todd.avalanche wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2024 5:50 pmI played from 96-2000 at the Peake, and I can tell you this doesn't look like a fundamentally sound team. Re: Regular season is over…. Who’s time is up???
Having watched a few Belpre games, I would have to agree. They have had back to back 1-9 games (and lost to Federal Hocking in OT lol) IMO have not seen much improvement(although much better than the previous coach). His offensive play calling is predictable because it's the same three plays each series. He will live and die with the Wing-T he runs. A friend of mine calls the coaching staff the geriatric crew lol And the defense is getting dominated each game. Belpre has been outscored 961-175 under Welch's tenure.
I overheard the underqualified AD say, "We are gonna be in the playoffs in a couple years...our junior is really good." Clueless. But will give them credit for having a junior high team.
If Belpre is serious about turning a corner, get a young coach that's a teacher that will be in it for the long haul and get the kids out.

Clueless? Junior High had 21 kids out. Beat Southern, Van Devender (PHS feeder), Federal Hocking, Eastern, and Alexander. So if that group stays together the playoffs aren’t really a stretch in the near future.chrishilton91 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2024 10:18 amHaving watched a few Belpre games, I would have to agree. Point being, no one has ever made the playoffs with a. Junior high team. There is a big difference between high a school and junior high. And it goes back to my original comment about quality of coaching on the high school level. The coaching staff is still 2-18 with only scoring 8 points a game and having 48 scored against them.UncleRico05 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 15, 2024 8:16 pmClueless? Junior High had 21 kids out. This response tells me all I need to know about you. You’re right. Every team who made the playoffs this year didn’t have a junior high team to develop their players. I’m pretty sure my comment said FUTURE!chrishilton91 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 16, 2024 6:14 amPoint being, no one has ever made the playoffs with a. Junior high team. It’s not a dig current junior high kids sir. I am saying with the current staff and offense and defense they high school will not win.UncleRico05 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 16, 2024 7:32 amThis response tells me all I need to know about you. You’re right. Litter Media posted today on Twitter that SE was looking for a new head coach. Bummer because I thought that guy really cared and was starting to improve the program, just didn't have the athletes.

Yep, seemed like a good guy in a no-win situation. But, they were coming off 3 straight playoff seasons and now haven’t won a league game in 4+ seasons, so it makes sense if you’re looking at wins and losses. However, sometimes you’ve gotta look at the Jimmy’s and the Joe’s when making these decisions.PVBearcat2012 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2024 2:06 pmLitter Media posted today on Twitter that SE was looking for a new head coach. It’s been a tremendously bad football program if you take away Lane Ruby, Dave McGarvey and Brian Netter. They even had a season in the 90’s without a team, which actually was a positive reset for them, because the next coach went 33-18. Not saying that needs to happen, but they need a hard reset to try and spin it back around. I think Huntington and Westfall have found pretty decent young coaches in iffy situations, so it’s definitely possible for Southeastern to do the same.
Re: Regular season is over…. Who’s time is up???
I am interested to see the interests in this job and the direction they go- young or a veteran. The last fifteen years SE has struggled with the exception of a couple seasons but that seems to be with all sports in that same time period. Se football was competitive in the early 80s to 90- playoff, multiple 8 win season-scholarship players. Then fell off quickly - like mentioned above jv season one year then decent football for quite a few years up to c.a. 05
I think this is an intriguing job for someone- not as bad as it’s going to be made out to be. Very competitive teacher pay, top notch weight room and facilities, winnable non league schedule next season and not a strong league should be able to compete in games with a couple of them. Best of luck to the next coach. Coach Blair cared for the kids and community just maybe came in at the wrong time. Best of luck to him as well. It is a thankless job.

Really?? He was 4-41 since he took over where exactly were you seeing the improvement at?? He’s had athletes come through and ppl were expecting them to make a jump this year only to once again go 1-9. Nice guy doesn’t equal good coachPVBearcat2012 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2024 2:06 pmLitter Media posted today on Twitter that SE was looking for a new head coach. Re: Regular season is over…. Who’s time is up???
He was 4-41 in his time there and had no HC experience going in. SE is at a current point where they need someone with some experience and a clear path going forward with a complete overhaul from pee-wee to HS level.danicalifornia wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2024 3:55 pmYep, seemed like a good guy in a no-win situation.
