Having watched a few Belpre games, I would have to agree. They have had back to back 1-9 games (and lost to Federal Hocking in OT lol) IMO have not seen much improvement(although much better than the previous coach). His offensive play calling is predictable because it's the same three plays each series. He will live and die with the Wing-T he runs. A friend of mine calls the coaching staff the geriatric crew lol And the defense is getting dominated each game. Belpre has been outscored 961-175 under Welch's tenure.

I overheard the underqualified AD say, "We are gonna be in the playoffs in a couple years...our junior is really good." Clueless. But will give them credit for having a junior high team.

If Belpre is serious about turning a corner, get a young coach that's a teacher that will be in it for the long haul and get the kids out.
Sounds like your the savior of Belpre...

First off the Belpre job in itself isn't and wasn't going to be an attractive job to very many candidates because your 3 years removed from Belpre canceling games because they didn't have enough players. Two years ago this program was closer to not having football than making the playoffs this isn't Ironton folks. Belpre is dying community being eaten up by Pburg, Warren, Athens and Marietta.
Thats not a knock-on people who have applied for it but the guy who took over that program before Welsh really drove it into the ground. Im not suggesting it was a powerhouse but competitive in the mid 10's.
Secondly whether if you think Welsh and company are the answer or not you have to hire someone who cares and is willing to get their butts kicked for a couple years. The Belpre job was never about winning immediately if you thought that you're clueless.
Nick Saben couldn't have won 5 games in two years with what was left.
I'm not saying Welsh is the answer long term but Belpre needs a guy who is going to treat the kids with respect and teach them football, generate #'s and gain support from community.
Most people on this page would be terrible ADs believing that Belpre wasn't going to be a 5+ year rebuild its going to do the program zero good firing Welsh that's my opinion.

Logan High School is seeking a Head Football Coach. Logan High School is a Division II program located between Columbus and Athens, and a member of the OCC Buckeye Division. The Head Football Coach will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the football program, including but not limited to planning, training, game management, and fostering a culture of excellence, sportsmanship and inclusivity. Proven experience as a high school football coach, with head coaching experience preferred.

Logan High School has some of the best facilities in Ohio and a full time Strength and Conditioning Coach.
Teaching positions may be available. Interested candidates should submit the following to Keith Myers, Athletic DIrector ([email protected]): Resume, Cover Letter, Professional References (3) Application deadline is December 13, 2024 or until filled.

"Coach Eddy will not be returning next football season. The athletic department and district has made the decision to change directions," Myers said.
"Mike has been a big part of our athletic program. He has been selfless, dedicated and true chieftain for his entire time while leading the Chieftain football program," he added Logan will be doing a statewide search for a new football coach.

The search will start the search immediately .
TWO SUGGESTIONS

BUY OUT OF CURRENT LEAGUE

JOIN TSL (WARREN, FF, MARIETTA, POINT, LOGAN)

HIRE LANE LITTLE AS HEAD COACH

WIN GAMES.

ITS NOT THAT HARD OR KEEP GOING 0-10 I DONT CARE.

AD'S AND ADMINSTRATIONS IN THE SE DISTRICT TEND TO HAVE NO CLUE WHATRE THEY'RE DOING.

soooooo.....you dint play......but you are some guru on the fundamentals of the game. Sounds like a bee-itch with an axe that needs grinding to me.
I played from 96-2000 at the Peake, and I can tell you this doesn't look like a fundamentally sound team. I think Coach is a fantastic person and I believe he would be a fantastic coordinator and support staff, but this program needs a change imo. Look at a Coach Clark coached team and this team and tell me it doesn't look drastically different.

It's nothing personal, he's a good man, but sometimes there needs to be a change, and there is nothing wrong with a mutual parting of ways.
Avalanche.. are you for real? I say this gently, but if you think you can compare the two programs then you must not have attended games. Not even a close comparison. Not to take away from athletes. Clark was handed a program and Knipp had to build one. Again, get over your hate for Todd.
Let me flip the question to you…. ARE YOU FOR REAL?
Andy Clark received a team that went 5-5 the year before. Also if I'm not mistaken didn’t Peake play a heck of an out of conference schedule back then as well? Chesapeake had two head coaches that had control of the program (Davis/Clark) they were involved from the youth league all the way up, even showing up for every middle school game. Do you realize what Andy Clark has done his first 2 years back coaching at Fairfield Union??
The only person with an axe to grind is you, on here clearly spewing things you have no clue about because you’re unhappy with this decision.
Glad this job is posted and I hope a thorough search and interview process take place. Weigh all the options.

Good luck in the future to Coach Eddy. I, for one, wish you would come back to Gallia Academy, but I don't really know why you would.

Unfortunately saw this one coming with the people that run that place.

I’m 2 for 3 on job opening predictions in the OVC. Southpoint is just a matter of time for the clean sweep.

I’d think it would be a valued job considering their history.

The community hasn’t been as much behind the school as far as a following goes for a while, which is a little strange considering they have continued to be fairly competitive.

Now, the issues from this past season on and off the field and in the stands will likely not help on the next hire. Also, after the juniors graduate, there will likely be a drop off with their numbers in the school being down within the lower two grades as far as the general population goes.

It is a school with a proud football history and it shouldn’t be down very long, so it may take a little patience but I would think it’s a decent job.

Many truths in what u have said…going to be an interesting couple weeks out this way. This community loves football but just pretty much stopped coming to games recently. Your right the on and off field issues just stacked up.
