I know it was a scrimmage, but SW and Western really struggled to score this morning against a Unioto team that gave up a lot of points to Hillsboro earlier in the week. SW/Unioto were nearly dead even (Unioto +1) and Western didn’t win a quarter overallpfloyd wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 11:40 am... The guards have to be able to score on occasion, in my opinion, for them to take it a step further than last season.
They should be very strong defensively and Roberts can take over most, if not all, games.

I believe all these guys will get the job done on the offensive side. If you need guys, I think Webster has a bench to go to that has McClintic, and Stephens who can also shoot for the Jeeps. Defensively I think they will be fine as well. These guys will communicate and hustle and do whatever takes to pull out the win. Big expectations for the Jeeps, and I think they know what they are.

I believe both Western and South Webster were at Unioto for a 3-way this morning ... hopefully I'll see the video later today ...tigerfan765 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 1:47 pm South Webster and Western scrimmage today and i heard south webster beat them pretty bad

Yes it was a 3 way team this morning I was there… Western looks awful. Webster was doing whatever they wanted to do with the basketball. Now Unioto does appear to be physical, but Webster looked pretty good offensively and defensivelypfloyd wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 1:56 pmI believe both Western and South Webster were at Unioto for a 3-way this morning ... hopefully I'll see the video later today ...tigerfan765 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 1:47 pm South Webster and Western scrimmage today and i heard south webster beat them pretty bad

Yes pfloyd, Timothy was a great athlete in the post. For as great as Webster was last year, I actually thought Timothy was a little under-utilized. Nonetheless, coach Persin led the Jeeps to another deep playoff run to the regional final. Will be good to see coach Persin on the sidelines yet again.pfloyd wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 1:21 pmSommer AND Timothy both were BIG (pun intended) on the boards ...val13 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 1:07 pmTyler Sommer. It’s hard to say. When a team is from Indiana, and you are from Ohio, it’s hard to compare your schedules because it could be a whole different level of competition. I have the South Webster Jeeps winning this game by 15+.

I was checking them out on Max Preps they don't appear to be that good, but like SWBASKETBALL said it is hard to compare. I think that South Webster however will end up taking this game by 20+SWBASKETBALL wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 3:02 pmIt’s hard to say. Western is in a bad division so they’ll win games but against any good teams they gonna struggle.
Soc 2 really really bad tho so they prob end up round .500 and lose in districts but Haggy can play

Haggey can for sure play, but it can’t just be a one man team. With Western being in D7 they will win some games but if they have to see Webster in the tournament, they might as well not even show up. They will need a lot of improvement before the tournament starts or they ain’t going no whereburgpirater wrote: ↑Sat Nov 23, 2024 4:06 pm Western is in a bad division so they’ll win games but against any good teams they gonna struggle.

Re: SOC I,II,III Predictions
I truly think the burg is gonna suck it up this year. When you have a guy that scores 25+ points a night, you can’t replace that. Yes the pirates will still have Rucker and McGraw, but the pirate team we are gonna see this year, is heavily impacted by the juniors they have. Hopefully Pouty Prater don’t throw water on the floor, or let a dog in the school to try and slow down his opponent because in the end he is just wasting time. The Pirates are gonna be walking the plank this year in the SOC losing to Webster and Minford both times! The Ghost of Swanker wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2024 11:32 am What’s the burg gonna do without Lattimore this year?

I can think of 8 football players off the top of my head that will play varsity. Hoping to see the QB Manley 6’6 Jr. come out and play. He's very raw but has potential to be a very solid player.

Right around that 7/8 mark should be varsity and really will be the main starters and getting most of the minutes. So, if anyone has seen Eastern play basketball, I probably wouldn't go judging what you seen vs what they might be, on top of Declan Davis transferring in from Piketon who played football this year, you've got 6-6 Manley who is playing raw but athletic as well as 6-3 Peters who's playing as well and he was rotating varsity at Waverly his freshman year. The entire lineup for Eastern will look nothing like what ppl have seen in the scrimmages or summer play.

Wow, thanks Tigernation2021 - I was going through my Preseason Rankings looking at who I feel I had ranked too low based on what I've seen in the preseason ... when I got to Coach Leist's Eastern Pike Eagles - I asked myself this same question ... I'm betting Coach Leist is glad to have his team back on the court even if it will take them a few weeks/probably until after Christmas break/the New Year before we get a real feel for what the Eagles will look like as a "Basketball" TEAM ...Tigernation2021 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2024 4:30 pmRight around that 7/8 mark should be varsity and really will be the main starters and getting most of the minutes. Anyone out there feel the Football post season goes to deep into the hoops season? - imo that opening weekend of the football post season with 16 teams per division is one weekend too many (which in my mind means they are allowing too many teams (16) into the post season) ... but that just me ...
