He’ll be driving past it each day!

This is a really tough job, I’m not sure it’s a 4-41 in 5 seasons tough job, but it’s a very tough job.

I said in another post of how Huntington and Westfall were able to score good, young coaches in tough situations should make Southeastern take their search serious, because it’s not impossible to find in our area. It’s just been a really long low point for boys Athletics for Southeastern, that almost gets ignored because of the success they had with Lane Ruby, but it’s been going on for 15+ years as a whole.

SE it seems one of those jobs that when they have talent they have a lot of talent and can be very good. Unfortunately it seems all too often they seem to be starting over and rebuilding a program with a new coach.
Hopefully they find a guy who can build the program and get buy in from players and families.

Tough job. Not a lot of numbers, not a lot of buy in, not a lot of tradition. Heard rumors several have applied but not heard any name specific.

This job and Huntington the two hardest places to coach in Ross county. Huntington has a coach and has the community support it will be hard to get it going at SE

Not knowing the situation, but that was 13 seasons ago. They went to the playoffs thrice in that time with 2 undefeated seasons

So, I’m sure it hurt in the foundational stuff, although SE hasn’t even been good at their best sport since then. It’s just a really low run of athletes on the boys side over the past 10-15 years.

Still, their “best” Coach of that time clearly did nothing to set the program up to have success after Ruby graduated, which I’m sure Coach Diehl probably would have done much better.

Can’t say names, but there were multiple former head coaches, at least one current head coach and a lot of interesting applicants from around the area too.

I was actually pleasantly surprised when I was told about some.

You had a coach that was an. Alumni. Multiple kids coming through the system. A coach that understood the cyclical nature of a program like se. One that would have been there and had stability. Instead they are going to continue to have coaches that talent chase a good group and bandwagon a short term success to jump ship.

3 wins in what? 4 years. That’s unacceptable.

Talent chase to jump ship?? 4-41 in 4 years as the HC do t think anyone was chasing talent. Coach before left after Ruby can’t blame he knew what was going to happen and that was SE was going to return to the doormat once again. Harsh reality but SE isn’t a beast laying in wait.

The previous coach is who they are referring to. My biggest issue isn’t the leaving after Ruby graduated, it’s that they clearly had no preparation for the future. I’m sure other coaches would have gone better than 4-41 in 5 seasons, but it was going to be ugly no matter what, because no foundation had been set.

Without that foundation, Southeastern football will be a doormat for a long, long time.

It doesn’t have to be that way, but the next man up needs to be in it for the long haul.

Still no names to throw out? I don't have any or I would. Coach Gallagher coming back? SE always has a great crowd at home games especially. Fans deserve better than 4-41? Those Ruby days, SE football was special and must see Friday nights. Not him alone though, Ruby had a stacked senior class.

The only name I know of that has applied is Ramone Conley. Anyone else?
