Indeed, defense and special teams carried the day. State's offense was not exactly a juggernaut, but did enough behind a retooled offensive line.

Michigan's will give OSU a stern test in terms of physicality, but the Buckeyes should push through for their first victory over Blue since 2019. Hard to imagine it has been 5 years.

Good to see the defense hammer the qb after the first series. They have vastly improved as the season has rolled along

Ohio State beat them in 2019 56-27. They didn't play in 2020 Michigan didn't want to play due to covid.

November 30, 2019 Ohio State 56 Michigan 27. The day my nephew was born. They did not play in 2020, and State has lost in 21, 22, and 23.
I do not believe any player on Ohio State's current roster has beaten Michigan. It is way past time, but it is going to be a physical test for the Buckeyes .

The environment was crazy inside the Shoe today. It's great to see the fans really be a force during the game.
Caleb Downs is just a freak athlete. When he took the punt return to the house, the crowd was electric.

I still think Indiana is a really good team but they ran into a buzzsaw today. OSUs defense played lights out and Will Howard is playing exceptional at QB.
I was really worried after losing Seth McGlaughlin at center but some younger guys stepped up and the line played well.
Now on to ttun!

U Haul should be sitting at Ryan Day's and Chip Kelly's house. Don't even let them in the locker room they can just walk out with the fans.

Horribly called game by Kelly. Horribly played game by Howard. The kicker shouldn't show up for class. The scene I'm watching is despicable by both teams.

Just time for a change. Day has to resign. He stacked everything on this game and the results speak for themselves. Total embarrassment for Buckeye nation. I hope they don't play another game this season. No reason to.

The play calling was like some of the talk about it being better to lose now so to not play next week to get the week off while not playing Oregon again. Why have 2 great backs and not be able to run the ball? Bring in an extra linemen or something. Even the pass plays did not take advantage of the talent on the field. OSU played the game but not to take the win.

The end of the game crap of trying to plant the flag on the field needs to stop. Fine the team that attempts to do that. As well as suspend the player or players with the flag 2 games.

Some rambling thoughts from a guy who has watched "The Game" unfold since 1987.

First the game is an intense rivalry. Outcomes are not determined by records, rankings, or recruiting stars. The team which controls the lines of scrimmage, dominates the rushing game, and is more physical in the fourth quarter wins the ball game. Today ( or once again) that was Michigan.

Second, I credit Michigan's defense. Extremely well prepared. Kept OSU's receivers from getting separation beyond 10 yards because their DB's did not have to assist with the running game. Michigan's DTs were able to contain State's running game while still getting some pressure on Will Howard.

Third, Ohio State's offense just seemed unfocused, unprepared. Scoring opportunities squandered. State's defensive performance deserved a better fate. But Hail to the Victors. They earned the win.

Finally, where does Ohio State's football program go from here?
They are in the playoffs, but will their hearts be in it? Will some of their draft eligible players sit out to protect against injuries that might cost an NFL career? Will talented underclassmen opt out by declaring for the transfer portal?

Then there is the question over the leadership of the football program going forward. I am a Ryan Day defender. Yet given the expectations in Columbus, a leadership change will be looked at. Yet it begs the question, who would you hire that be a guaranteed improvement in results?

"Victory has a thousand authors but defeat is an orphan."
However, lonely is the head that wears the crown.
Someone must answer for the mediocrity that has visited this field since 2021.
The answer lies in the fact that the line of scrimmage has been owned by TTUN.
You can recruit and transfer all the talent you want to the next level but the grunts in the trenches will always win in the end. 2014 seems like a lifetime ago.
