Future Non-Conference Wishlist

Post by MisterGalliaGuy2016 »

Gallia alum (obviously)

I'd like to see our boys play Marietta or Warren again. Same with Logan and NY. Chillicothe maybe, Unioto, Piketon, Waverly, Northwest, Wellston, Oak Hill, Vinton County.

(Alternatively, much of the issue could be solved by Gallia simply joining the TVC and keeping Fairland or Portsmouth on the schedule. Just kinda tired of Gallia being in a Lawrence County league where the closest road trip is Fairland at over an hour away, when you have natural rivals like Wellston, River Valley, Meigs, and Vinton County who are all within 45 min, but anyway, beside the point!)

What are some matchups you guys would like to see? Any local schools who haven't played in forever or just somehow never matched up? (Similar in size and close in proximity of course. Obviously Chillicothe isn't going to play New Boston or Symmes Valley)

Rock Hill

Get rid of Oak Hill and replace them with West or Wheelersburg. We played them in the mid 00’s.

Get rid of Symmes Valley and schedule someone like Greenup County or Russell.

Minford has been a good series to pull the plug on right now.

Also, maybe scrimmage Ashland since there are connections there now.

Symmes Valley is being replaced by Boyd County next year.

Beat Minford twice in the last 9 years I’d probably pull the plug too

For the Grove going way back in time
Oak Hill or Symmes Valley. Both were part of the OVC at one time. Out of state games, Boyd County, East Carter.

Like the original poster said, I’d like Warren to play Gallia in non-conference play for sure. Logan has been on the schedule for several years now, hope that continues. Other Ohio teams I’d like to see on there on a rotating basis, especially since the playoffs are 16 teams: Circleville (good week 1 game vs an in-region team), Vinton County, Athens, John Glenn, and a Philo-type team. Down the road, I wouldn’t mind seeing Jackson on there again, especially if we stay in R11.

For WV schools, Parkersburg and Parkersburg South, just not in the same year. Would much rather play schools right across the river than play John Marshall.

As an old fan standing along the fence for decades I would love for my Bearcats to pick up Newark Catholic again. It made our program grow back in the day and always looked forward to seeing it.

From what I have been told N.C. will be down for a while.

The first three weeks for Vinton County…

Logan
Zane Trace
Amanda CC

The week 7 game is pretty limited in who they can play but if Gallia were to join the TVC, that would be great.

I want to see NY and GA play again too. I would love for GA to be in the TVC. It’s where most of the SEOAL historical rivals are. While NY and GA have not played in football since NY’s last year in the SEOAL, they have played in other sports from time to time.

When I researched NY history on microfilm at Alden Library years ago, I found articles about some epic basketball tournament games played in the 1970s-1980s period.

GA did the right thing by dumping Meigs but then they lost a golden opportunity to schedule Eastern.
