Stauffer?

They actually have a nice young staff that an experienced coach would likely be able to mold into a quality staff. Multiple former college players who are invested. Not sure if they are ready (or willing at this point) but would be smart to keep around, IMO.

Ya stauffer, I get what you are saying but imo they won’t get an experienced quality coach unless a southeastern guy fits that description. I think they need someone that is invested in southeastern

He applies every and the guy has jumped all over the place no way if I were in need of a program builder would I even consider someone who has bounced around so much.
ehhhhhhhhh

If he was bouncing around as a head coach, that'd be one thing. Not sure how one can look at being at different places as an assistant as 'being the same thing' as when someone does it as a head coach.

It's hard JMO to pass judgment on a guy on the basis that he's been an assistant at multiple places. His day job isn't a teacher; it's supplemental services/intervention.

True but it’s a different assistant job each year and not just assistant he’s been coordinator as well. Sorry but to me it speaks volumes given what SE needs

They thought they had that though with Blair. It’s just a job that is going to take a lot of patience and building from ground up unfortunately they swung and missed with Blair and it’s going to set them back that much farther. I know it’s not an ideal place but to me they need someone with HC experience just because of what all is needing done. You take a 1st year guy and unless he’s got a clear cut plan moving forward it’s not going to work.

Good facilities, good young assistants, always seems to fill the stands, not sure about Administrators but seems like it could be a good job for the right person

IMO this job needs a head coach with prior head coaching experience and experience building a program up from the bottom. A proven head coach with that capability.

Waverly
Eastern
Westfall (I think?)
Circleville
Chillicothe (briefly? I don’t know if he ever showed up, but I know he announced he was hired. But he then backed out).
Fairfield Christian
Grove City Christian

He spends 1-2 years at each school, then moves on. I don’t know why. I don’t know him personally, just know some people who know him. I’d think if you wanted a HC job, you’d find a current HC who is willing to mentor you for several seasons.

Always kept hearing it was for one reason or another, the Westfall one was either 1 year or announced and didn't go then took the Circleville job which was supposed to be exactly where he was looking to be. Nothing against the guy but given what SE needs they need someone who has proven roots, jumping around that much just doesn't seem like a trait I'd be looking for in a HC with this type of task.

I know the situation generally well on the last two: he was with FCA for two years, I believe. Him and their coach have a solid relationship. It’s my understanding he applied for the GCC job when it opened, and when he didn’t get it he got linked in with the guy who did get the job & came aboard as their DC. Coach from FCA (who is also their AD) put in a good word for him for the opening at GCC.

Obviously he didn’t get the HC job there, but at the same time it’s not like he threw a fit over getting passed over. Was given an opportunity to coach as an assistant there, he took it. I think the Circleville and Westfall stints are related to his job being in the SS/Intervention capacity, both of which he had jobs in those buildings on 1-year’s. Dunno if his job is through an ESC and those were placements. Dunno about the stints in Pike County, other than he’s a Waverly alum.

I agree with the general point that SE is going to require someone with a vested interest in SE specifically. This might not be the job for him. My earlier comment was more in the spirit of “I dunno how we can pass judgment on a guy that’s always coaching at least somewhere, despite the fact he hasn’t been the head man.” He doesn’t teach, which is give and take on how long he can last as an assistant at one place for extended period of time. In other words, it might be premature to hold his resume against him down the line.

Hopefully get this hired at the December board meeting . Might need a complete overhaul at all levels to start competing on a regular basis. Best of luck the next guy.

Rick Clark and Scott Lewis won at Southeastern. I believe they both made the playoffs when only 4 teams went.

Clark did, Lewis was 8 teams. John Roberts went 28-12, which I think is the best overall coaching record they’ve had.

Every few years, the Panthers do well for a few years, but the good coaches haven’t stayed past that initial few year cycle. Obviously, 4-41 really stands out as a low point though.
