I'm not nasty at all i have just spent most of my adult life working and living on the east coast, so i am just more firm and unfiltered and appalachians are a bit sensitive and more presisposed to being passive and wishy washy. The ONLY issue I have is Irontons program being called cheaters by a program that cant carry Irontons water fanbase. I got family on that team sir. I take offense cause I know for a fact Ironton is a high integrity and HIGH CHARACTER program. And quite frankly if ANY of you schlepps take offense by me pushing back on tbe false narratives and propoganda CONSISTENTLY pushed on this site - oh well. Re: IRONTON FIGHTING TIGERS! 2024 DIVISION 5 STATE CHAMPIONS!
Thats a good post. I always enjoy your takes. That said i wanna be clear. Accusations of recruiting illegality requires a collective culpability to be executed and to become an illegality. Coaches, staff, student athlete and student athlete parent must all be in it together for it to be executed. So the REPEATED accusations by burg fans levied against Ironton includes accusations against the children also BY DEFAULT. Thats unacceptable. I will continue to push back.FIDO wrote: Fri Dec 13, 2024 9:22 amI understand the point you're making. Without knowing the posters, I hope you're wrong.798924 wrote: Thu Dec 12, 2024 5:40 pmAhh not so fast. There is context and inference. The repeated unsourced and unproven accusations from burg fans insinuate recruiting illegality which would require culpability on the part of the staff, the student athlete, AND the student athletes parents or guardian. Dont give them a pass now. The repeated accusations made would require culpability on the part of all parties to be executed. THOSE are the accusations burg fans have made repeatedly on this site. By default the kids are also included in their baseless and repeated indictments. Call it out equally sir.FIDO wrote: Thu Dec 12, 2024 5:34 pm I do believe the banter is about Pendelton being a disgraceful cheater vs the players. I've read nothing but accolades for the players, especially Terry.
G.
For me, on this site, those are too many dots to be connected. As I've mentioned before, I've seen nothing but praise, especially for Terry.
I dont have any skin in the game, but the Tiger's and Pirate's are historically the two premier football programs in our area. Many area communities have blamed both teams of recruiting and holding kids back in certain grade levels to gain an advantage. Whatever the case may be, OHSAA hasn't weighed in so I don't give a rats behind.
I'm excited for the kids on their state championship. Those are memories they'll carry for their entire life. KUDOS!!

There are always going to be Haters of Ironton Football and Burg Football.
The difference is the accusations leveled on unfounded things.
From recruiting
To academics now
To cheating.
And so on.
It is the sign of the times if you want to win be noticed at at small college or big college where do you want to go.
If you want to win State Championships where do you go.
Right now Ironton is the hotspot right now.
I like the direction they are moving in.
Burg is a good program and I want them to do well.
I remember when Ironton was down and Burg put several beat downs on them.
It sucked and I hated the fact they lost but I never said nothing and Burg I would congratulate them and hope for better the following year.
It’s high school football and this bashing any team for any reason is just pure hatred

I really don't understand a lot of this back and forth. Burg, has an excellent program. During Ironton's drought, before Pendleton took over, Wheelersburg was THE program in southern Ohio. I think Burg is simply in a 'Decade of Despair' so don't despair. We have some future coaching changes at Ironton, we possibly could be right with them.
Recruiting at Ironton? Oh, my goodness gracious alive. The coaching staff and players at Ironton work their hind ends off. They care about the program, the reputation and the facilities at Ironton. They also care about securing scholarships for the boys when they graduate. These things, they add up, they naturally draw some players to Ironton. It's not recruiting, it's producing a product that sells itself.
Next year, we will hear the same accusations as the Tigers tear it up again. MANY will forget that next years juniors at Ironton didn't give up a single point their entire 8th grade year. Many of them started or played this year as sophomores. They'll have been at Ironton at least 5 years when they graduate.
Reputation and class? We sure seen that Saturday night when Ironton's Kayden Edwards approached LG after the game, took one player by the hand and led their team to kneel in prayer together with Ironton. Both teams went to their knees and offered up prayer and thanksgiving. THAT was very impressive! class that Bob Lutz gave to Ironton and now continues. No one prompted the Tigers to do that, they done it on their own. I was as proud of them over that as I was them winning the game.
Terry? he IS all that but my goodness! I watched them play 16 games this year. These boys KNEW how to play the game. There was abundant talent on this team up and down the roster.

Re: IRONTON FIGHTING TIGERS! 2024 DIVISION 5 STATE CHAMPIONS!
You continue rambling about players from over 20 years ago. But let me ask these questions::BIGDADDYFRMCINNATI wrote: Thu Dec 12, 2024 9:37 pmYou are way off the mark again. I'm speaking about Chad Reinhardt who played RB and was a kick returner at Ohio U. He also was a track star sprinter in the 100 and 200 meters for the Ohio Bobcats. I did my undergrad there 1995-2000 and watched him play. As far as Cowgill, burg would have never been as successful as they were without him, and the same with the boy from S.Webster a few years later. The fact remains these boys were from other neighboring programs and were enticed to transfer into the burg program.RBH23 wrote: Thu Dec 12, 2024 8:33 pmWhat you’ve listed from the mid 90’s to now is less than what Ironton has on their team this year!BIGDADDYFRMCINNATI wrote: Thu Dec 12, 2024 6:16 pm
You seem to have a lack of reading and comprehension skills. I said it started in the 1990s and then continued. The three in one year was less than a decade ago. Also, if it is true burg lost 3-football studs that were immediately plugged into another program as starters---then now you know how these other programs felt. So you're trying to say just b/c it was the behavior burgs' years ago that you now deserve zero accountability? LMAO! You're grasping at straws and making yourself look pathetic with your sanctimonious BS. Go look in the mirror.
But let’s start with the first falsehood. Yes, Cowgill was a nice player but he was not the MVP of that team. Best two players were Spradlin (whose family is entrenched in Burg) and Miller (do I even need to explain this). Both played college ball.
The other five names you mentioned are over 30 years! As I said, Burg lost three players this year alone (two went to Portsmouth, one to Green). And over the past 5 years, Burg lost two starters to Portsmouth (Summerlin being the biggest loss) and two starters to Ironton (Salyers being a huge loss). They’ve lost kids in other sports as well.
As for the Reinhardt kid, he was small. Don’t think he played at OU. Burg did have an OL named Reinhardt that played at Ohio Wesleyan. Are you mixing the two?
Regardless of all this talk, the numbers are simply this:
- Ironton CB: 23 (not including move ins)
- Wheelersburg CB: 13 (no move-ins)
- Minford CB: 10 (? on move-ins)
You can go on and on with the stories about your friend’s cousin’s uncle who coached Minford peewee in 1994, but the numbers are the numbers. And these numbers do not jive with your claims about Burg raiding other schools.
Also, I just found out about Bendolph who lived in Portsmouth directly across the street from a PHS coach. The frauds at burg said he lived there, and when burg was put under investigative notice---they wouldn't dress him, but every game before that--burg had zero problem playing him. AGAIN, The fact remains that several players were enticed by burg from other schools and it doesn't matter if only one or one hundred. That's like saying you only robbed a bank for $1 when it was really $100. At the end of the day, you're still a thief and a fraud. Your sanctimonious strawman arguments do not hold any water. Go look in the mirror.
- Since you appear to be accusing Burg of recruiting, then tell us which coach from Burg talked to these players?
- Also, has anyone from Burg ever told you that their coaches recruit?
- Have the parents of these kids stated that their kids were recruited by Burg, and if so, who specifically did the recruiting?
I can give such info on IHS and Pendleton.
I can’t claim Pendleton has talked to all transfers, but I do know he talked to two: one transferred to IHS, one did not. The parents said this was true. Now could they be lying? Sure, but don’t know why they would. But I have given names in the past so anyone on this site could check for themselves.
Also, I met a person last summer connected to IHS. Knew of this person before but this was a first time meeting; had no idea of their connection to the school. This person shared many things that have been discussed on this site:
- Stated that Pendleton does recruit. Very concerned that this will one day bite IHS in the a$$.
- Stated that football gets priority and nearly all the attention while the other sports are mostly ignored.
Now this person has no incentive to lie. Actually could lose their job. At a minimum, would face a ton of harassment.
Anyway, I don’t just pull my comments out of thin air. And I certainly don’t repeat everything I am told, especially if it is connected directly to something a kid might have said. As for reporting to OSHAA, I leave that up to those directly involved. It is their life that would be impacted by this.
Re: IRONTON FIGHTING TIGERS! 2024 DIVISION 5 STATE CHAMPIONS!
Pendleton talked to so called recruits? What does that mean, ‘talked to’? At what level is he expected to not talk to a kid? I’m sure some kid looking at coming to play at another school is interested in the coach and his staff. When is talking to a kid a violation? Are there specific rules? A coach directly approaching a kid without any encouragement might be a violation of the rules, I don’t know. You’re not accusing him of that though? Should a kid be able to even speak to another teams coach?
What’s wrong with a school/city being primarily interested in one sport? Many schools are. I know years ago, Ironton’s football program took in so much cash that they supported all the other sports. It was self sufficient. I got that from a board member at that time.

Ya gotta take the criticism with the praise. You can't come on here, and other places, talking about "destination school" without push back. Comes with the territory
