Coming from a competely UNBIASED spectrum....
I'm not trying to be negative at all here. But I created the Congragulatory thread to Congratulate the Hard work the Ironton Tigers that put into an amazing season. Seems like every thread regarding Ironton goes off the rails somewhere between the end of the 1st or 2nd page... and Quickly...
Im pretty sure there are Ironton players as well as other players from other schools who browse these boards to see what is being said and what's going on with other teams in the area. I mean the majority of the posters in here are adults. It would be nice to lead by example and show sportsmanship and a Grown up way to purse situations.
Divisiveness never helped any purpose. This is a region that has been overlooked MANY MANY times in sports by "BIG BROTHER" (Schools up North) And now we have someone at the Top Representing this Amazing Region. And it needs to be Celebrated! It shows that "Big Brother" doesn't always rule the roost.
I said it once before and I'll say it again!
Congratulations to the Ironton Fighting Tigers on an amazing Season.

The problem is there is a troll from “Ironton” who derails every thread. He gets banned, signs up for a new username, posts in it for a month, gets banned, rinse and repeat. Instead of immediately banning each new username and deleting the posts, he is allowed to post for a month or so. It’s very obvious each time it’s the same person with a new account. People engage, which isn’t smart, because that’s what makes trolling so fun.
I know the site is moderated, because I had a post mentioning the coach that shall not be named and it was deleted within minutes. Surprised I wasn’t immediately banned for criticizing him.
Given these facts, it seems clear the moderators are fine with the current state of affairs. I will probably post more on Yappi next season, even though there is little SEO info, just because you don’t have to look through the same stuff (transfers, 1 and 16, 1989, 2017, high median income, competitive balance, where this kid went to 5th grade, etc.) every other post.

Accusations of recruiting illegality requires a collective culpability to be executed and to become an illegality. Coaches, staff, student athlete and student athlete parent must all be in it together for it to be executed. So the REPEATED accusations by burg fans levied against Ironton includes accusations against the children also BY DEFAULT. Thats unacceptable.
The problem isnt an Ironton poster saying Softburg is 1 and 16 vs Ironton jackson and prep over the last 4 seasons combined.
The problem is the burg fan base levying unfounded accusations of illegality. ( and it being acceptable chronic behavior on this site)
Dont like it? Too bad. Truth hurts.
Re: A thought....
It’s not just Ironton and Burg where the trolls go in, it’s other schools. I remember one whole thread dedicated to calling Norm Persin “poopy britches” and the mods did little to stop it. Like you said, mention a certain coach and the mods are all over it to shut it down. I wish they would take back control over this site instead of trying to please certain people. It’s getting old.TigerBob wrote: Fri Dec 13, 2024 10:39 am The problem is there is a troll from “Ironton” who derails every thread. Also, I am long proponent of criticism of coaches and their decisions on this site. They are public servants who tax payer dollars pay their salary, therefore, are subject to criticism under protection of the first amendment… just saying!

Good ol boys clubs always feel above reproach. That said reference the criticsm with facts, first person account BY NAME, and receipts that support said criticism. Or just dont do it is my opinion.OVC wrote: Fri Dec 13, 2024 12:21 pm Also, I am long proponent of criticism of coaches and their decisions on this site. Re: A thought....
Honestly for me the criticism comes with the job, I don't have a problem with posters criticizing coaches in a constructive way or anything like that as long as it's not below the belt personal. I don't think any 1st amendment stuff needs brought up either it's not that serious. If you're a HC you're going to be criticized no matter what level you coach at, whether it's on this forum, at the dinner table, administrators or those parents and fans clapping it up in the stadium or in their chairs for you the criticism will always be there it comes with the territory. My guess is a vast majority of coaches really don't care or hear the noise at all, after all as they'll tell you I don't see anyone else wanting to step up and help or have this job.OVC wrote: Fri Dec 13, 2024 12:21 pm Also, I am long proponent of criticism of coaches and their decisions on this site. Here’s my take of why I bring up first amendment, we have had authoritarianism take over when United States Presidents who have signed laws preventing direct criticism of officials. The freedoms protected in the first amendment guard you from governmental restrictions on your speech, worship and association... it doesn't mean that everyone needs to be heard at all times, on all platforms. Moderation of discussions on a private web forum has nothing to do with the first amendment— Just like you're allowed to kick someone out of your house for disrespecting you. It's their right to say whatever they want, but being on your property isn't their right! Same goes for a website.OVC wrote: Fri Dec 13, 2024 2:55 pm Here’s my take of why I bring up first amendment, we have had authoritarianism take over when United States Presidents who have signed laws preventing direct criticism of officials. Re: A thought....
The First Amendment does not imply to private sites.
It is Solely up to the administration of this site to what to allow and not allow.
My biggest beef is the attacks on the schools by certain parties and accusations.
Yes if a coach is bad he should be criticized or a school is failing their student athletes should be pointed out.
Ironton just brought back the championship to SE Ohio and several quickly accused Ironton ant the recruiting and the fact Shawn Terry was the only reason they won.
Terry has been at Ironton since 9th grade I think calling him a transfer should be dropped after 4 years.
And calling out Burg and their record against Ironton Prep and Jackson should be dropped.
We should support all our fellow schools keep a positive on the rivalries but do it with class.
These are High School students.
Not college or Pro Athletes.
You win and lose with humility and class

Re: A thought....
So there is an equivalency between stating a football related FACT [ BURG IS 1 AND 16 vs Ironton, jackson and prep, combined over the last four seasons) and unsupported FALSE allegations levied by Wheelersburg fans about Ironton that are not ON FIELD performance related? What? Lmaofielddaddy wrote: Sat Dec 14, 2024 7:44 am The First Amendment does not imply to private sites.

So dont mention anything football related about wheelersburg and then wheelersburg fans wont make false allegations about ironton staff students and parents is your solution? What?
Is this bizarro world is is SOFTBURG that pathetic? Unreal.
There is no equivalency. Smh.

TigerBob is 100% right. As pointed out in his comments, I am one of the fools who engages the “man of many names”, which always results in a trivial, useless discussion. That said, I’ll do what TigerBob encourages and Foe the man of many names. Besides, the trivial conversations have gotten really boring.TigerBob wrote: Fri Dec 13, 2024 10:39 am The problem is there is a troll from “Ironton” who derails every thread. As for critiquing the coaches, that should be fair game as long as the attacks are not personal insults, etc. I know some on here view these coaches as gods, but they are not beyond reproach. Criticism comes with the job.

By personal attacks you are referring to what wheelersburgs fans said about Irontons offensive coordinator on this site all season huh?
Crickets. Thats what i thought.
