I hope it happens. I know Marion has nothing to gain and everything to lose. Ironton can win with having this game, even when losing.ohbuckeye2 wrote: Wed Dec 11, 2024 4:07 pmThis game just might happen, keep your eyes open, I’m hearing things.OVC wrote: Tue Dec 10, 2024 8:30 pm My opinion, Ironton has nothing to lose if scheduling Marion Local:
1) Win and say you beat the best small school program in the state (who probably would’ve won state in D 4, 5, and 6)
2) Lose by a little (<14 points) and say you were able to compete with the best in the state. Also able to make adjustments on what to focus on in season
3) Get blitzed and see where the weaknesses are. Focus on those if you want to win back-to-back.
Either way, it spells positive for Ironton

I just seen on the Ironton X page that Marion Local is looking for a week 1 game in 2025. Ironton response to Marion Local’s tweet was “Let’s Do It” everyone involved with these 2 schools need to make this happen. It would be awesome to watch Marion Local at the Tank. 68 straight wins in football, currently the longest winning streak in the nation including 4 straight state titles & 16 state titles since 2000. I’d love to see them come to The Tank & have their 68 game win streak snapped. The Tank has hosted some very big games and some very historic programs. I’m not sure they’ve hosted a more prominent team since 2000. Man, im excited just at the possibility of this thing happening. It’s still hard to believe ML won their state title game 74-0.
Re: Ironton 2025 Schedule, Wish List & Done Deals?
Back in the 80s and the 90’s, Coach Lutz and A.D.Mike Burcham drug Ironton fans all around the state and not a few games deep into Kentucky and West Virginia. I, for one, love that Ironton had this set up and are tickled that it looks like Coach Pendleton has brought it back again. Nothing is more boring to me than watching the same teams that make up a league year after year. I feel sorry for programs that do that year after year.
I know a lot of people who weren’t even from Ironton or Tiger fans who would come to the games at Tank Stadium because as one of the same told told me, “I like to see good football.” it is hard to say how many people were. Just curious that bought a ticket and came to see Carla Snow, Vinny, Clark and Cape. Then Archbishop Carol, stadium was packed, jam packed for both of those.
I remember a time if you didn’t get there at least an hour before the game you were not gonna find a seat. There were huge crowds. It was so exciting. I see that coming back and I relish it.

With Weeks 1 and 2 open, that should make it easier to fill. I believe Week 7 is also open but that could be tougher.

If distance for teams traveling to Ironton and Ironton traveling to them I’d like to see. Bring back Hartley, add Stuebenville, Martinsburg WV, Clinton-Massie, Ashland, Huntington WV

They could maybe get Prep if they are not too scared after last time. LOL, can you imagine what this game would be like if the two face each other again? In all my days, I've not seen a team give such a poor account of themselves by their actions, the whole game and after the game. The officials let that game get out of hand. I don't know what if any discipline was handed out to the team and coaching staff at Harvest but there sure should have been798924 wrote: Thu Dec 12, 2024 4:49 pmThey could maybe get Prep if they are not too scared after last time. Well, aren't they special? Amazing! Prep was absolutely disgraceful. Top to bottom. And the officials did a horrible job.kantucky wrote: Fri Dec 13, 2024 12:40 pmLOL, can you imagine what this game would be like if the two face each other again? Re: Ironton 2025 Schedule, Wish List & Done Deals?
I am a little surprised by this. I didn't think FF would play them now with numbers down but a couple of years ago I remember D'spy was saying they couldn't find anyone and that they had to settle with adding a very bad Belpre team to the schedule. Are you sure they declined or could they just not find a date? Also, I think they would play them now. Read on another thread that a lot of the players that did not play last year are coming back and add to that the players coming with the Marietta coach and they should be a good pickup. Either one of these teams should be a no-brainer for FF. Big gate and a no lose situation.Oldtimer55 wrote: Wed Dec 11, 2024 2:42 pmBurg reached out to Fort Frye 2 years ago but they declined….. Not giving that “Christian faith based” school a call at all. Absolutely zero class one of the sorriest things I’ve saw watching high school football in a long time798924 wrote: Thu Dec 12, 2024 4:49 pmThey could maybe get Prep if they are not too scared after last time. Ironton vs Clinton Massie should most definitely be looked into! How about Ironton vs Fairmont Senior (WV) or Bridgeport (WV). Interesting possibilities!

Re: Ironton 2025 Schedule, Wish List & Done Deals?
Problem is a lot of those big WV teams like Huntington looks at Ironton as a lose lose situation.
Huntingtons coach already said that and Im sure many others have the same attitude.
Racelsnd would have been a great matchup being so close but from what I heard Raceland is thinking Ironton maybe too much for them.
Playing schools that is Ironton’s size will be hard to find.
Maybe Portsmouth and Fairland and Jackson will be willing to stay on Ironton’s schedule for future games as for Wheelersburg if Ironton puts another running clock on them in a beatdown I see them dropping Ironton.
I see Ironton having to travel and playing larger teams and the Ironton faithful is supporting of this overall.
A few don’t like it but that is the cost of winning championships.
Ironton knew what was going to happen when they left the OVC area teams don’t want to play Ironton due to the fact they can’t compete on the same level.
The road will be long and hard but the results will lead to another championship for Ironton.

Re: Ironton 2025 Schedule, Wish List & Done Deals?
The longer travel I don’t mind, especially if it’s kept under two hours, however, I’m long retired. I can head to the game anytime I want.
Having said that, on these games where there’s more travel involved, I would like to see the games start a little later. For years, they didn’t start to 8, then 7:30 and then 7. Someone getting off at five has a hard time getting there. When I worked at the refinery, I took my clothes for the game to work with me and left to drive to CAPE’s stadium as soon as I showered.
An 8PM game when there’s a couple hours getting there would be nice for many people

Also with WV going to 4 classes the incentive so schedule a team like Ironton who would be class A is not going to help them as far as playoff seeding. However in AAAA all teams make it so there is that. As another poster states Bridgeport or Fairmont Senior aren’t bad options either for picking up teams from WV. Ironton will more than likely need some Cincinnati schools or Columbus area to beef up the schedule

I'm sure not excusing them...but a lot of these schools, they get students who've been in a lot of trouble and as a last ditch effort they'll put them into a Christian based school. Its sad because as they saying goes, 1 bad apple....Jeaux Burreaux wrote: Fri Dec 13, 2024 5:05 pmNot giving that “Christian faith based” school a call at all. I agree but the Dayton Springfield area has some good teams and it’s a little over 2 hour drive to these schools.Jeaux Burreaux wrote: Sat Dec 14, 2024 3:58 pmfielddaddy wrote: Sat Dec 14, 2024 7:21 am Problem is a lot of those big WV teams like Huntington looks at Ironton as a lose lose situation.

Nice competition up in that area for Ironton.
