Thanks….this was my guess but even more than I guessed.rmr1119 wrote: Sat Jan 04, 2025 9:25 am If anyone would like to see the events, here's the URL: https://fan.hudl.com/usa/oh/pomeroy/org ... MjZkZTQ%3D
Go to the 1:20:31 mark to see the inbounds that led up to the inadvertent whistle.
Official clearly just trying to be immediate on the timeout but you have to see the ball through the net…be immediate on that. Whistle had zero to do with the tip in. That tip in was happening regardless. The tip was tipped before anyone reacted to the whistle.
Refs met and must’ve decided that they made a big mistake OR couldn’t fully agree that his inadvertent whistle was before the tip in (noise)….there was no easy answer or easy way to avoid things like this thread. They went with allowing the tip. Just watching the final happenings I agree with the outcome but per the rules they did the wrong thing IF they thought whistle was audible before tip happened.
The quick whistle left the officials with no path of not being strongly discussed. I feel bad for all 3 officials but that’s from just watching final portion of the game. I do have a final thought but will just leave it be as it isn’t fair to the official that blew the whistle early.
