2025 SOC II
Well with 2024 in the books. What do we think of 2025 for the SOC II.
In no particular order…
-Wheelersburg, it’s their conference until someone beats them.
-West, played well, expect them to improve.
-Northwest, was 2024 the mountain top or do they have staying power to be consistent?
-Oak Hill, couldn’t get past Minford this year. Not sure what will fix their issues.
-Valley, up and coming in my opinion. May not challenge for championship this year but are trending that way again.
-Minford, tough year with a first time new HC. I like him and hear lots of good about him. I hope to see them take another step or two forward in 2025.
-Waverly, surprised they only beat OH and Minford in 2024. Not sure what 2025 holds for them.

Re: 2025 SOC II
Burg
West should be decent and so will Valley, but outside of those two, I don’t know if there’s a lot being scored on Burg next year
I’m very interested in seeing what Waverly will look like.

Re: 2025 SOC II
Burg pretty obvious choice here, then I might follow that up with a Lucasville Valley/West should be a very interesting matchup. Northwest lost some horses and one of the top RBs I don't know that they have the staying power or not. Oak Hill while the record showed 1-9 I still feel they looked much more competitive as a whole. Minford could sneak out some wins here and there I don't look for much but heard there's a possibility a certain player comes back for his senior year possibly to play with his brother who's coming up. Waverly could be a mess, if rumors are true they've decided to keep the coaching staff the same which let's face it that's why they've got so few kids as they don't want to play for the OC, add that into Waverly losing 12 seniors or so including all of their skilled players, QB-RB-3-WRs, this team could be in for a 4 win season.CuckooNest wrote: Wed Dec 11, 2024 3:28 pm Well with 2024 in the books. Re: 2025 SOC II
As it currently stands (before free agency):
1. Burg
2. Valley
3. West
4. Northwest
5. Minford
6. Waverly
7. Oak Hill
Overall, looks like a down year talent-wise for the conference. Until somebody in SOC II shows they can actually compete with Burg (stay within 2 touchdowns), Burg the favorite regardless of who they graduated. Went with Valley over West based on everything West lost to graduation (basically their entire OL) while Valley returning 45+ players. Hearing some of the same rumors greygoose is: if Powell comes back out for Valley, and Caudill for Minford, would make this conference even more interesting.*

I’ve heard the Caudill rumor as well. To me it would be hard to walk away from soccer after losing 1-0 in the state championship game.art_vandelay wrote: Thu Dec 12, 2024 11:12 am As it currently stands (before free agency):

Back in the day Eli Parkes did soccer and football, maybe that’s a solution?

If Powell comes back out for valley that a big deal no team in the soc returns as much experience as valley does most of those seniors have either started or got lots of playing time since their freshman year

Re: 2025 SOC II
Oak Hill unfortunately has had their worst 4 year run in the history of football, going 3-35. However, the positive thing is that the only place to go is up. Much more competitive last year at times.
Re: 2025 SOC II
Correct and that's why I have Valley as that 2 team with West very close, West lost some talent and lost that big OL. I really feel the way Valley was closing out the year and even the close games they were in they're the team that takes that step forward next year, will they compete with Burg I don't know have to see how things shape out for them as the season goes along.Izladoom wrote: Thu Dec 12, 2024 11:52 pmart_vandelay wrote: Thu Dec 12, 2024 11:12 am As it currently stands (before free agency):

Re: 2025 SOC II
It would be hard to walk away from that, but I have no idea what Minford returns to even have the ability to get to that point. The other thing Caudill will have to decide is what kind of jump if any does he make in track this year because ultimately that's his meal ticket and football would be a chance he's taking that could hurt that going forward. For Caudill it's going to be the ability to play with his brother who could very well be the starting QB for Minford next year as a freshman and Peyton would play a WR role and that would limit the amount of hits he'd take. Even if he decides to play Minford just doesn't have the line play to compete with the top half of the division.CuckooNest wrote: Thu Dec 12, 2024 12:05 pmI’ve heard the Caudill rumor as well. Re: 2025 SOC II
It does feel like Wheelersburg and everyone else. Minford I think will be better no matter if Caudill plays or not. I think Oak Hill will probably be just as bad or worse. Valley West and NW will probably be close, and I don’t know what Waverly has to replace all their weapons that graduated.
I do follow Valley and they return some real game breakers but as mentioned QB will be the difference. If Powell does come back Valley could take a nice step forward.

Re: 2025 SOC II
Unfortunately I’d be surprised if west breaks 5-5. Lost their whole offensive line and a talented player in Parker. Bring back bishop along with Adkins but they have to have someone blocking for them. Rumor is #1 and #17 who played corner and receiver are not coming back out.
Bright side is a very promising freshman class coming up if they all stay.

Re: 2025 SOC II
West lost 3 starters off the line, QB and Parker. Will be hard to see them better than 5-5. Some big shoes to fill.

QB Hall will be a senior next year.MrPerfect wrote: Sat Dec 28, 2024 4:23 pm West lost 3 starters off the line, QB and Parker. Will be hard to see them better than 5-5. Some big shoes to fill.
Losing 8 seniors will be tough. Parker at rb and Wood on o and d line will the hardest to replace. Geyer, Thompson and Rapp were solid too.
However, several key players return, especially Bishop, West will be alright next season.
Re: 2025 SOC II
Oh ok could’ve sworn he was a Senior last yr . They may be alright then with the RB coming back also. Line looks like the biggest factor.jujubean wrote: Tue Dec 31, 2024 1:19 pmQB Hall will be a senior next year.MrPerfect wrote: Sat Dec 28, 2024 4:23 pm West lost 3 starters off the line, QB and Parker. If McNeil is back to 100% and Powell plays valley will be much better than everyone thinks. Not saying they can beat burg but they will win a lot of games next year. Has anyone heard anything about McNeil
Re: 2025 SOC II
Always like to see a competitive SOC to help when tourney time comes around for the Burg.

Who’s going to be the starting Linemen for Wheelersburg? The starting backfield should be good.

Burg only got one OL starter back (Meeker at center). Will not have the size up front they’ve had the last few years, but will be more athletic.*ohbuckeye2 wrote: Sun Feb 16, 2025 9:09 pm Who’s going to be the starting Linemen for Wheelersburg? The starting backfield should be good.
