Zane Trace vs. Piketon

Post by hbk1999 »

Can someone explain why a coach who is up 30+ points continues to press a team in their own league. Pretty classless display by ZT’s new head coach tonight.

Did they play more than 7 players tonight? Only played 7 in a game last night that they were winning by 23 at the half yesterday.

They are a good team, but pressing up by that much is unnecessary

A lot of words after the game. Not players.

Someone probably needed to call that guy out.

I would agree with that.

Following in coach Kellough’s footsteps, he was the epitome of classless.

Coach K has well over 500 wins….sounds like you must have part of those 500 wins! Probably even multiple times….

ZT Boys the previous 4 games have been up 20 at half then go onto lose the second half of each game. Coach Cassidy challenged his team to continue their efforts through the third quarter to help them improve their mindset. He's getting ZT ready for a tournament run, no disrespect to the Piketon players. With 3:45 left in the 3rd quarter it was a running clock the rest of the game. With 1:30 left in the 3rd no press and with 5:16 left in the 4th played his JV players. I just wonder if Coach Miller and Coach Coreno had the same words for Matt Combs who's Unioto team beat them by 36? On a side note, I looked at Max Preps and reviewed the five years between 07-08 and 12-13 when Coach Jeff Lisath led the Piketon Boys program to a 110-33 record including 62-8 in SVC play winning 5 consecutive SVC titles. Pretty impressive. But did you know that in those 143 games his teams won 20 plus times by over 32 including a 105-26 win over Western Latham in the 10-11 season, now that's embarrassing kids with NO running clock. Coach Miller has no connection to Coach Lisath just as Coach Cassidy has no connection with Coach Kellough. He's coaching his team with100% effort just like he expects from his players with NO MALINTENT. Good luck to both teams/coaches the rest of this season.

Good for ZT for blowing out the bad SVC teams!! It sure is going to help them when they lose in the district semis

It is always good when people try to justify blowing out bad teams and not getting better where you struggle

Maybe playing better half court basketball would have them undefeated instead of losing the final quarter of there two losses

Nooooooope, gotta press instead!!!

ZT folks can spin it however they want. Piketon coaches had every right to call him out.

ZT boys were up 20 previous 4 games but lost the 2nd half has zero barring I mean you're putting in other players those guys don't have the intensity but let's just take a look at those 4 games final outcomes:

Beat AC by 24, Beat Huntington by 21, Beat Adena by 12 after being up 26-8 at half, beat SE by 15 after being up 37-14 at half, yeah I'll tell ya sounds like things have been pretty rough for ZT these last 5 games. Give me a break, just own it, so it took 5 minutes to go in the game with a running clock before they finally put the JV in?? 3:45 to go in the 3rd pressed for 2 minutes with starters and played another 3 minutes into the 4th with starters and a running clock before JV kids got in. Yeah you can't spin class into that one, I mean to the point of talking about a game 15 years ago with a coach who isn't even there a guy can't make that stuff up. A ZT fan sure as heck can .

Since that was your first post sometimes as a coach you probably shouldn't signup for a name and justify your actions really doesn't get you anywhere.

Typical ZT. Goes back to Kellough beating Piketon 89-17 in 2002. Coach Miller was a freshman starting PG for Piketon who played 7 freshman on varsity and ZT pressed the entire game.
