Think Keyser had 23.

The 8-0 run for minford to open the third was the game. Webster applied pressure in the 4th. Probably running on fumes which isn’t typical of Webster but I believe we won the 4th quarter.

I was told by multiple people there were some fluids given today so take it for what it’s worth. Minford is tough as usual. Great atmosphere. I got there at 4:30 and it was full by the start of the JV game

Iron sharpens iron.
So the sickness was the reason for the loss? Were the Minford fans nice to the visitors? That’s the biggest issue here.

South Webster means nothing Vinton fans. Vinton is a school in Gallia county that closed over 50 years ago. If you are referring to Vinton County..they’ve played maybe 4 times. We’re just worried about your fans feelings. As well as every other team you’ve played. No one wants to be mean to visiting fans. Webster has been the forefront of being hurt by multiple teams. It’s obviously an issue for the jeeps. We (seo) needs to do more for Webster fans.

Third best huh? Great call. Lol.

Falcons really controlled this start to finish.

Also, lots of things to sure up before tournament time.

I think Jeeps can win this, but if they are behind 8 or 10 going into the 4th quarter the margin could widen to 19.
I didn’t believe they could, with Montgomery at PG SW simply wasn’t going to speed him or minford up to take this one. Should’ve been a wider margin but at one point Kaiser missed 8 straight shots there in the 2nd half.

Yeah don’t make excuses you said prior to it didn’t matter that SW could do it. There’s very few teams out there that are going to stop Montgomery. Great atmosphere, glad to see the ppl that liked in for this one.

All the talk pregame of Kayser and Roberts, and Montgomery ends up being best player on the floor by far. 10-0 run by Minford to start 2nd half was the difference in the game. Their defense in 3rd quarter kept Webster from getting into their offense. Just a fun team to watch and ready to make that deep tourney run this year.

Webster was 2 v 5 on offense most of the game. Can’t have kids on the floor scared to shoot in a game like that. Stephens really showed me a lot though and will probably be seeing the floor a lot more as he started the second half for Webster. Jeeps will get another crack at Minford, but better put this one behind them quick with game at Notre Dame tomorrow night.*

You don’t think it’s valid that the jeeps weren’t 100% and still gave them all they wanted? Ok. Clearly minford was flustered given the intentional foul in the 4th.

Minford hit shot. More than jeep. Jeep miss free throw. How’s that
Great in-depth analysis Swank. Kayser missed a lot of shots in the key tonight, but he was more impactful than Roberts and Montgomery just played his game. Only 9 points from the rest of the Falcons roster — not good going forward.
— Final note: Body language and on-court attitude matters a great deal to most college coaches/scouts.
*South Webster role players did an excellent job tonight versus Minford's relative lack of depth.
*Montgomery was good but for him mostly an average night. Kayser shot a lower percentage than usual but was still solid.
*Not certain whether to credit Minford defense/coaching strategy or South Webster lack of execution for getting the ball to Roberts in good scoring circumstances.
*The comment about "body language and on-court attitude" is both so true and evident tonight.
*Jeeps are a very good D-7 ball club that could go a long way in March.

My thoughts:

Great atmosphere and both team’s fans were awesome.

Either team could beat the other on any given night, but Minford at its best is better than Webster at its best.

Solid reffing in the game. Disagree with some calls and some non-calls both ways, but nothing egregious.

Secondary players on both teams were afraid to take shots in a big pressure environment. Doesn’t bode well for either in the playoffs.

Roberts was better overall than what I’ve seen in the past few years, but the whining and complaining and lack of effort are still there unfortunately. It’s a shame because skill wise he’d be the best player in the area by a large margin if he had half of Kayser’s motor and effort.

Can’t wait to see them run it back at Webster, and wouldn’t be surprised to see Webster win by the same margin there.

Dominated it. Especially when it went to graps.

Won in the dancing and the grappling. That’s a 2-1 night for Webster.

A couple takes from watching the livestream:

South Webster needs to improve from the Free Throw line.
Their Defense is better than what’s given credit for; Minford sat at 46 on the scoreboard for a long time.
1-3-1 defense for SW was effective but should have been utilized more due to SW not matching up athletically with Minford.

For Minford, Montgomery and Keyser are really good and when are shooting the ball well, it opens everything else up offensively. If Minford can find a 3rd option on Offense that’s a true threat, then they’re going to be a really tough out come tournament time.

The only thing that will hurt SW come tournament time is height and length. If they face a team in the tournament as long and tall as Minford is, it’ll be a tough night for them. Genuinely loved watching how hard both teams played.

I think it is completely valid to factor in sickness in terms of impact on a game. And injuries that may not be apparent. And personal issues that can affect someone (family member health issues, girlfriends, etc). Life impacts people. But what we don't know is whether Minford had any of these issues as well. But if they didn't, and South Webster did, then certainly I give additional credit to the Jeeps for a gritty effort.

Minford always seemed a little better than Webster. Credit to both teams for playing hard. Kayser played a sub par game to what he normally plays. Missed several shots at the rim that he makes and needs to make. Credit ER for that. Myles despite being one of the shortest players on the court, is almost always the best player on the floor and he was again last night. Incredible young man, high character and a true gamer. Both teams will make good runs in the tournament and I’ll be rooting for them both.

While I don't disagree that Webster only had two reliable score creators last night, it's very ironic to see that because Minford has only had two reliable shot creators for almost two seasons now lol

This game really came down minford's two scorers just being better than Webster's. Can't wait to see if the role players at Webster step up when the game is at home.

Also thought Norm could've taken advantage the switching Minford did more with Roberts getting guards on him. I think he will be well prepared for the 18th.
