Ham Porter: When we played George Rogers Clark, they were the #1 ranked team in Kentucky. Sam Houseworth's Stateline Sports Network rankings had Cincinnati Mt.Notre Dame ranked #1 as of 1-20-25. So the rankings I posted were not inflated. Houseworth's rankings now have Mt.Notre Dame #2 in D1. There are a number of different polls, so there's going to be differences in whose #1.

I sit right beside the Fairland fans "these was some really nice woman " and we was all right behind the scorers table and Trojan bench , I personally seen the girls shaking hands all along with the coaches the Fairland girls was all hugging and congratulating the Trojan girls as did the Fairland head coach with the portsmouth coaches now maybe a girl or2 did not make it back to shake hands. but for the most part YES THE TROJANS DID LINE. IP TO SHAKE HANDS,!! Although I did see our tiny sophomore point guard: Keke woods was so exited when the buzzer sound she took off running inches backcourt and did a couple back flips ,I will apologize for her for beeing o er excited after winning an UNDEFEATED REGULAR AND LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP!!

It's post like this that takes away from your real fans . there has been a couple all over portsmouth thread trying to downgrade our lady's schedule!!

Anyone who just lies consistently about things has issues too. There was a livestream that can prove the number of hand shakers in line, just like there are internet websites that prove rankings. It’s okay.

Nobody is hating, but don’t lie about things that are easily proven because of one or two troll accounts.

There were very few Portsmouth kids that shook hands. That’s the truth. Maybe they were just excited bc they did have a great crowd and their student section was awesome! No judgement here, Portsmouth played great and finally knocked off king from the throne. Wish they would’ve shook hands, but I can see both sides. Congratulations Portsmouth on a much deserved victory. I think round three will probably happen.

Fun game to call. Portsmouth plays outstanding defense and that’s what will carry them to the Final Four (and possibly beyond)

Not a lot of handshakes, but I don’t think it was done disrespectfully. A couple of players who weren’t in the dog pile did, but honestly, you don’t get a lot of chances to celebrate with your schoolmates like that, so I don’t see it as anything but that.

To add, if I’m Portsmouth, I don’t care about what anyone says from outside of the locker room or community.

20-0 is 20-0. OVC Champs and have done it against a high quality schedule. They’ve answered the bell all 20 games so far, but they’ve got to answer it 8 times. After the next 2 this week, then the real work begins. Answer it 6 times in mid-February and March and then hang a new banner in the Trojan Arena.

I.just watched the ending so I will retract and apologize I knew I seen some girls and the coaches shaking hand but it was definitely not as many as I had thought I guess like the girls I. Was caught up with te mob that stormed onto the floor.

My apologies, I should have looked at some videos before I commented, but I just thought it was more negativity thrown at our girls.

We just witnessed a really good game from 2 really good teams, a game that had Portsmouth win the OVC outright for the 1st time since joining the league and the talk of some on here is about them not shaking hands lol? Come on, I doubt any of the Fairland contingent really cared if they got their hands shook by a team that just beat them. Portsmouth players and fans were excited, it’s that simple. These schools don’t like one another, in any sport. It’s the rivalry in the OVC, stuff like this happens, and will continue to happen when you have 2 competitive programs going up against one another, each fan base will knit pick small things, like when the Fhs student section made signs about a former Portsmouth QB and his mother was upset. It was harmless, part of the rivalry, same goes here. Congrats to the Trojans, let’s keep the momentum going. Congrats to Fairland, obviously a great team and I think there could be a 3rd game down the road.

I went and watched the game in person. Lady Trojans started the game up 11-0. 2nd quarter was a slow one for the Trojans but went to halftime up 3 I think. Fairland came back and took a 2 point lead in the 3rd. A fun game to watch and glad I went. Great crowd and they were pretty loud for both teams. Congrats to the lady Trojans. They have some ballers.

Congratulations to the Lady Trojans on winning an outright OVC championship and doing it in grand style, going 14-0 and beating a very good Fairland Lady Dragons team to clinch the title. PHS held FHS to only 12 points in the 2nd half; their defense has been their strength all season.

PHS finishes the regular season with 2 road games, at Cincinnati Mt.Notre Dame and at Ashland KY.

As far as the shaking hands issue, when the PHS student section rushed the court, that kind of set the whole process in chaos. Second, we are talking about teenagers who just beat a very good Lady Dragons team to win the title. It's understandable that the formality of shaking hands was disrupted somewhat.

I really think these two teams can represent the OVC in the Final 4, based on each other's tournament draw which puts them in different regionals.
