Fear and respect are two different words. And if you equate the two, not sure you are paying Burg a compliment by saying we no longer fear (ie respect) them.

That said, maybe this is an age thing. I see “fear” used a lot on this site as in “we don’t fear them” or “everyone fears us.” That’s stuff I never heard growing up when it came to high school sports. Again, we are talking high school sports, not Mike Tyson in the ring. At the high school level, the only thing we feared was the wrath of coach Miller.

Now there was an exception to this. Cheerleaders would create posters using words like fear, etc. So I guess I stand corrected. Cheerleaders spoke like that. LOL!!

How about intimidating? That work for you? Semantics at this point. I think you get the point.

I can't help what you did or didn't experience in high school, and as you and everyone knows, times change.

You have heard "they should fear us", so you do know the meaning of the terminology. Again, this was meant to be a term of endearment but it has turned into a debate of sport dialogue.

I can assure you when we play Cin. Moeller, our head football coach always says he has to coach the fear out of his team first. It's a pretty normal use of the word for intimidating. I'll do my best to better articulate next time ol timer ;)

So, I guess the answer to the question after 4 pages of chatter is no, Pendleton isn’t leaving Ironton

“They should fear us”, yep, that’s what cheerleaders would put on a poster; were you a cheerleader? Also a cheesy line used by professional wrestlers :)

I highly doubt Pendleton had to coach the fear out of Ironton in preparation for the Moeller game; those boys were probably pumped about the opportunity. However, if I’m wrong, then things have dramatically changed in I-town. IHS boys of the 80’s and 90’s would not have feared any team. He!!, those guys would have liked their chances against the Buckeyes. LOL!!

Seriously, what school did you go to where the players were in fear of their opponents? That said, I think I do get the point: you grew up in the generation that wears helmets while riding their tricycles ;)

I thought the other poster was a moron, but big bad machismo Wheelersburg sports star may take the cake. I have been on here since 2009, rarely post, and your posts have been the most revealing of any I have seen on this site in terms of ability to comprehend simple concepts.

Congrats, you've now taken this conversation in another moronic direction.

Name calling. Always a sign of intelligence. LOL!!

I brought “this conversation in another moronic direction?” This from the person who actually stated “we no longer fear Wheelersburg.” LMFAO!

That truly is the most bizarre and saddest comment I’ve read on this board. If you use to “fear” the big, bad Burg, the rest of the world must seem truly terrifying to you!

But on a positive note, you appear to have gotten over your “fear”, so congrats on that. Maybe this year, you can finally turn your nightlight off :)

Calling a spade a spade.

Thanks Uncle Rico. I can tell who hasn't left their hometown in their lifetime.

I can also tell who hasn't been around or coached a sport since the 1990s.

Such a weird fixation on a word that is thrown around in sports vocabulary daily.

“I can tell who hasn’t left their hometown…”. LOL!

Actually, you cannot. I haven’t lived in Wheelersburg since high school. Travel more in one year than most will travel in a lifetime. You will never see as much of the world as I already have. So epic fail on that statement.

“I can also tell who hasn’t been around or coached…”. LOL!!

Wrong once again. Coached travel basketball when my son was in school. Coached some really good kids and athletes along the way.

My response to your “fear” comment was an attempt to free you from your “loser” mentality which, based on your comment, is something you have. Something you need to work on.

Nothing says winner like "I coached my sons travel team".

Like I said, I can tell who hasn't coached in an educational athletics environment, and I love the Uncle Rico mentality.

Loser mentality, epic comeback Uncle Rico.
