No, there are not "a lot better than Marietta and Warren." They played well against both teams. Credit for that. I'd take Hiland by 9 as of today. We'll see.
They averaged beating those two by 12. Usually when you pound teams by double figures you are a lot better than them

But, the computers say they are closer than that, so real life results don’t matter, right?

Monroe would beat both 9/10 as would Hiland. At Marietta they got beat pretty bad. Game wasn’t even that close. Tucker Howell is the best player on the court vs those 2.

Quite an accomplishment for any kid at any school. I have heard stories about those Skyvue teams and about those players including Hannahs, Hilverding, Laisure and so on. From what I have heard he was a heck of a player and they were a heck of a team. Ironically, when I brought it up, a lot of people who know that team talk about an epic 3 overtime (that's what i was told) regional final game at the Convo between Skyvue and Hiland. Apparently neither team led by more that 5 points and were very evenly matched and the Convo was nearly full. They said there was a Schlabauch on that Hiland team. I wonder if it was their current coach. Crazy to think about that. But here we are and the same two teams all these years later. Full circle.

I think that Hiland/Skyvue game drew a bigger crowd than some OU games.

Monroe was up 46-45 with just over five minutes left in the game. True, Marietta didn't play one of its better games, but to say the "game wasn't even that close" is not truthful.

What do computers have to do with this discussion? MC did not "pound" Marietta. It was a 46-45 with just over five minutes left. Monroe is the better team, no excuses, but no reason to exaggerate to make a point.

Marietta was down by 16 at halftime and ended up losing by 13 lol. Yes they fought back but outside of that 3-4 minute stretch the game was never really close.

Actually, the game was in doubt/competitive with less than 3 minutes left in the game. Good solid win for MC -- not necessary to embellish or exaggerate the nature of the game.

It was 57-47 with 3 minutes left. Conservatively, MC probably led 25+ minutes of game by dbl digits... mc did control the game other than the late 3rd early 4th run by Marietta. Im not sure Marietta played their best game, but the atmosphere was great and hard fought game by both teams

Well Feb 21st MC has Crooksville, and if everything plays out as we expect Malvern Feb 25th.. and potential Hiland match up Feb 28th

because of the weather. it apparently snowed more down there than it did up here.

Noles lose to Wheeling Central tonight. If they can’t beat WC there’s 0% chance of even hanging within 20 points of Hiland. Personally I doubt they beat Crooksville

I'd say that's an overreaction as Wheeling Central is very good and would contend with Hiland... Definitely not a good way to go into the tournament but I'd say the focus was probably not where it needed to be last night. They definitely need to regroup and take it one game at a time and not look ahead. Crooksville will be tougher than their record indicates, but the world isn't falling bc of last night

We are all expecting a Monroe vs Hiland district final, the key now is for those teams to focus on each game and not look ahead. Malvern especially will not be an easy out, they played Hiland close last night.
