Football/Soccer
Re: Football/Soccer
How many area soccer/football fields are under water with the flooding and rains??? I have pictures of several area fields with water standing on them with all the holes and creeks nearby.

Doesn’t matter… it just shows what a field could look like at any time. A nice Turf field looks good all the time no matter the weather.TigersGameDayFan wrote: Mon Feb 17, 2025 4:07 pmVery unfortunate this is during the prime of soccer season.BurgFan43 wrote: Mon Feb 17, 2025 3:04 pm How many area soccer/football fields are under water with the flooding and rains??? Re: Football/Soccer
Turf famously cannot be flooded. Very intelligent observation. Also, southern Ohio’s rainy season typically brings floods in the fall. These are great points!
Re: Football/Soccer
As long as it doesn't happen in-season, annual flooding can be healthy for natural grass fields that are using native grass species. It's a really common "issue" for youth rec leagues, as so many of their fields are setup alongside rivers and creeks—flat land can be hard to find around hereBurgFan43 wrote: Mon Feb 17, 2025 3:04 pm How many area soccer/football fields are under water with the flooding and rains??? Re: Football/Soccer
If a field floods in the spring doesn’t mean it couldn’t happen in the Fall. A field needs some good drainage to make it an excellent playing surface. I would agree that these fields would be good rec fields but school sponsored teams should have equivalent facilities if there aren’t allowed to be shared by the AD/athletic department.SoccerDad wrote: Mon Feb 17, 2025 7:01 pmAs long as it doesn't happen in-season, annual flooding can be healthy for natural grass fields that are using native grass species. Re: Football/Soccer
We would definitely have a problem if those big drainage systems don’t work on stadium turf multipurpose fields. A large rain can happen anytime in the SEO region. There are plenty of documented floods in the Spring and Fall. That data is very easily found and proven.TigerBob wrote: Mon Feb 17, 2025 6:59 pm Turf famously cannot be flooded. Re: Football/Soccer
Are you taking about flooding rains in the fall?? Have you not ever been to a pouring down rain at a football game?? Didn’t you just lose a roof for storms last Fall??
Re: Football/Soccer
So a rain storm is a flood now?
Can you please just find the “plenty” of documented floods in the fall?

Re: Football/Soccer
Isn’t every flood caused by storms??? We are having a flood now from storms. Just for your info, back in 2021 we had 4.42 inches of rain with floods in October. Just thought I needed to refresh your memory from just a few years ago. It can and does rain in the Fall as well as the Spring in Ohio. You just don’t realize the weather since you watch games played on stadium turf.TigerBob wrote: Mon Feb 17, 2025 8:00 pm So a rain storm is a flood now?

Re: Football/Soccer
Yes, every flood is caused by rain from storms. I did not consider this point. You win again.
Re: Football/Soccer
I get your argument that only heavy rainfall causes floods but it can and has happened during the Fall.TigerBob wrote: Mon Feb 17, 2025 8:31 pm Yes, every flood is caused by rain from storms. I did not consider this point. You win again.

The best looking turf is when all students and teams are able to use a district resource rather than an uneven field with holes and no fence.TigersGameDayFan wrote: Tue Feb 18, 2025 9:25 amYes a turf field looks fantastic under waterBurgFan43 wrote: Mon Feb 17, 2025 6:26 pmDoesn’t matter… it just shows what a field could look like at any time.
