Yes, Coal Grove has a nice facility. It was built completely without raising anyone’s property taxes and used COVID money. Nothing from the General Fund

South Webster has a soccer and basketball complex. They also used COVID money with no property tax increase or General Fund money.

Portsmouth has a nice indoor facility. The old historic basketball gym was renovated to be such facility. I know the baseball and softball teams use it, and I’m pretty positive the football team may use it some.

Nice! I wasn’t aware that Portsmouth had this facility. It is amazing they used an old facility they had to be used for this purpose. It is also nice that it sounds like multiple teams of both boys and girls teams can use it.

This is information off the Valley website...

Valley Athletic Complex

The VLSD Board of Education has voted to build an athletic complex this upcoming winter, to be completed in 2021. This building will serve many purposes for the student-athletes in the Valley school district. The athletic complex can/will be utilized by all extracurricular teams in the near future.

Within the complex, there will be a new spacious weight room, an open all purpose turf room, locker rooms, restrooms and showers for the Valley Indians to utilize. The building will be of use year round for all sports as it will be temperature controlled for all seasons. Each sports team will have the opportunity to use the new athletic complex with the expanded indoor space during inclement weather.

All sporting teams will have the opportunity to use the weight room and the open all purpose turf room for conditioning purposes and practices. In addition to the weight room and all purpose turf room, batting cages, golf nets, places for tennis to hit balls, open area for cheer practice will be available to the student-athletes.

Since it was voted on in 2021, I would say they used their COVID money to build it. It sounds like an awesome facility for ALL students and not just certain team or teams.

They may have, I'm not 100% sure on that. But yes, it is a very nice facility and all the students love it.

My experience with kids that play soccer is they all say they hate turf. South Webster has a nice soccer field and so do we at unioto. I could see teams not wanting to play other sports on the football field if they don’t have turf. I don’t know of any that play on bad fields but have turf football fields

No, we don’t have an indoor practice facility or full time AD. We value the education of our kids first and that’s why we are a 5 star school district.
