Think Sheridan and Tri Valley split during the regular season. Also saw Tri Valley only gave up 15 points in there game with Steubenville. Think the Unioto is going to face a stiff defense again.
Watched the Unioto-Sheridan on NFHS- so thought Unioto struggled with ball handling at times- agree the Smith took over a bit in the 3rd - overall thought Unioto had alot of girls that could handle the ball just need to tighten it up cause defenses are going to getting tougher and tougher each game going forth.
Good Luck to Unioto on Saturday-

Great win by Unioto. I really thought losing the Dennis girl would be the difference but they just keep rolling along. There was a long stretch where it seemed like there was no scoring and it was 35-25 every time you looked up. But Unioto has offense and it doesn't have to come from Smith. It's nice to have her when you need a bucket or when you need someone to take over (like they did last night) but they also have some other scorers. On the other hand, I think Sheridan has had lulls in scoring all year so I guess it played out about right. Both good teams but congratulations to Sheridan on a great season and congratulations to Unioto for moving on. Best of luck vs TV.

Tri Valley beat Sheridan early close then lost by 14 later in the season. Looking like they have a solid defense so I expect another low scoring one

Unioto wins 68-58. Was back and forth all game. Milee Smith is unbelievable. 33 points and I feel like she only missed a couple of shots

Was able to take this game in at Zanesville HS- 1st must say thumbs up to Unioto crowd- was more vocal and spirted then the Tri Valley Fans- having to travel 1 1/2 hours to 15 minutes thought Tri Valley would pack the house but the crowd was 55-45 for Tri Valley but not what I thought it might be. To the game- Unioto started off slow and feeling the Scotties out and got down I think 10-0 before a 3 by Smith opened the scoring for The U. At one point think Tri Valley 17-7 with a Unioto TO- Unioto at the point to get its feet on ground and started back- got it back to 19-12 at end of the 1st quarter and tied the score at 19 in the 2nd- back and forth for a bit before Smith makes a steal and scores at the end of half and Unioto up 34-32. 3rd quarter with no scoring the the 1st 4 minutes then bam- everything fell for both teams and back and forth- think it was 51-48 at end of 3. 4th quarter saw Unioto maintaining and widening the lead. Tri Valley started feeling the pressure to score and seemed Unioto plan to speed up the game was finally paying off. Unioto was able to hit some big shots and more importantly hit its free throws. Great effort the Shermans. Smith was unbelievable and agree she did not miss many shots- Hamilton did not have a offensive night but was picked up by Holbert and Beard. Was a overall a great team win by Unioto.
Will not say much about the officiating other than I think the 1st half there were only 2 fouls called on Tri Valley- we will leave it alone- its seemed at 2 critical times the officiating benefitted Unioto- in the 4th quarter at the same time Unioto called a time out another official called a foul on Tri Valley and they stayed with the foul call- then at end of game a Tri Valley girls goes down with a injury and they blow the whistle to stop play as Tri Valley shoots a 3 and it goes in but play had been whistled before the shot-
Overall Tri Valley started out fast and was in control doing what they do but from a 17-7 deficit Unioto began to take control and get Tri Valley to up to a pace that was not successful for the Scotties.
Good Luck to the Shermans on Wednesday- keep climbing the mountain to the top.

Congrats to the Shermans on the district title.

Much like Sheridan and Fairland over the past few years, playing the tougher schedule can result in some losses, but it gets you prepared for the games later down the line.

Not sure if Unioto can beat Avon Lake, but they’ll put up a big fight come Wednesday night.

Watching the game back for the first time…how do some officials get district championship assignments?

Almost every jump shot Unioto took in the first half featured the shooter being hit. Okay, you haven’t played before and don’t realize how much that affects a player, whatever. But, a Tri-Valley player had a gorgeous jump stop for a layup, called a travel. I watched it 3 times, it was never a travel.

Just 3 fellas that should never have done a district championship game, because they didn’t understand the basics of the game. Thank goodness both teams shot the heck out of the ball in the first half or else it would have been about a 14-12 game.

8 of the 9 officials at Southeastern tonight were quality, so at least that was a positive for our area.

Have to agree- Unioto is in for a battle in the Regional- very tuff region- Avon Lake plays a monster Division I/ II schedule and has played 4 teams in that advanced to the regionals and let not mention #1 Akron St Vincent- St Marys is in the other semi final game. Hey but have to play the game and anything can happen- playing to go support the Shermans and see where the cards fall.

thought 2 of the officials were clueless the other was OK- talked with someone in the know and it was mentioned when you have these mixed District games that the officials should be from outside the 2 districts- like the Regionals game are done. Know for fact that those officials have officiated a few Tri Valley games in the recent passed- but it the system we have so.

so you think it does not matter but officials know the trends of teams just as coaches so it does matter when you officiate a game with a team you have officiated before vs a team you have never seen before. Again it just the system we have.

Biggest moment of the game imo was when Miller went from zone to Man in the 4th quarter. Completely took Tri Valley out of their offense

Officials will be from whichever District hosts the Final. Next year will be a SE crew.

Honestly the game doesn’t seem impossible to win. Avon Lake plays solid defense and will be bigger than Unioto. Shermans have to limit Offensive rebounds as much as they can and shoot like they did against Tri Valley

Have to agree that Unioto is not a big underdog. Avon Lake does not seem to have a lot of team speed so that favors the Tanks. Size could be a bit of an issue but they don't appear to have that dominant post player so I think Unioto plays their game and gets the tempo and style to their liking and they win this game. If it is an upset then I am picking the upset. Best of luck to Unioto.

In the past, I think SOS would play a big effect in games like this. But Unioto played a super tough non conference schedule and Sheridan/Tri-Valley were both solid teams. Unioto won’t see a better team than Purcell Marian and they were only down 6 at half.
