After researching various teams that are on local schedules, I found that Canisius NY team on Ironton’s schedule had $22 million dollars in academic scholarships in 2024. I know several local teams celebrate athlete scholarships, but we should be spotlighting academic scholarships. I know it is a football thread but student and athlete goes hand in hand typically.

Then put your money where you mouth is.
Start a program for Burg athletes and the general population of students of burg to advance their academic careers.
You poke and poke for some reason you hate Ironton and that’s fine but quit pretending you are a saint because you are an antagonist and that is all you are.
Again put your money where your mouth is.

Burg has a great academic program for their entire student population and not just athletes. Many of our students are graduates of various career fields and successful in life far beyond playing on a field on a Friday night, a court throughout the week, or on the diamond in the spring. Nice try! Our academics speak for themselves!! Ask anyone who has a kid at our schools or who graduates as a Pirate!!

You are a true one of a kind. And all of those parents think that their kids are better and smarter than anyone else. Do they speak for themselves I'm gonna say you have no clue what you are talking about I'm just guessing.

Congrats you think you know what your talking about. I can prove any argument you want wrong or right. And I'm not saying Burg doesn't have good academics. I'm saying that you need to quit using it as an excuse because your teams are bad.

How many Wheelersburg grads a year go to Ivy's or public Ivy's? How many go to Harvard, Yale, Princeton, NYU, Cornell, Michigan, UVa, Berkeley, Duke, Vandy etc?

No, you're the "facts" guy. Get us the data of all your grads and let us know, until then, it's simply window dressing.

So UVa to play a sport, which you've been on some strange tirade about, and one at UNC. So your amazing academics off the top of your head have sent two students to public ivy's (Maryland is not a top public).

Wheels falling off? What are you talking about? This past month you've started thread after thread attacking Ironton, AD's, sports in general, facilities, and going on a rant about schools and academics over athletics, on a sports forum. I know you're unable to see the irony in all of your posts, but a rational person would take a step back and ask themselves what exactly are you trying to accomplish? No one is engaging with you because they agree, they're engaging because you're clogging up the board with non-sense.

Believe it or not, we have some athletes that fit in that 2% that are provided with a D1 college scholarship. Those kids that fit in the 2% deserve it. If you read in my posts, I have said numerous times that the Terry kid deserves it. He was a playmaker in himself. We will see how he progresses at Missouri.

As to where what kid is attending a university, I’ll leave that up to the parents to disclose that. Just know that we send more than our fair share to universities on academic scholarships. I don’t feel the need to prove anything to you. As you told me before, you was going to ignore my post but here we are once again. You just can’t help yourself.

You say time after time that I am attacking one school and that isn’t true. We have had some discussions about hot topics. I am sure many of the topics related to schools around you in “Cincinnati”.

Yeah, we have had discussion about academics because a kid can’t play sports without the grades. They can’t attend a university without the grades. There are certain requirements that must be met. There are also certain requirements to graduate. It doesn’t matter how good you are in sports if you don’t have the grades. You must be able to become a working tax paying citizen after you complete high school which has nothing to do with playing a sport. The Pleasant kid is an exception since he is playing in the NFL. How many others can you name??

I think it is great to defend your “family’s” interest but at the end of the day it is all about the kids and their education.
