Warren vs. Miami Trace Prediction Thread

Warren vs. Miami Trace

Time to analyze matchups between two teams with combined records of 43-2, heading to Logan Tuesday night.

I'll start with this: Warren by 10. Warriors have enough size to neutralize Trace's inside scoring prowess, and enough experience to deal with the pressures of a big tournament game. There are a number of DIII teams in the Southeast and East districts that I would say are equal to or slightly better than Miami Trace. But they found a way to go undefeated -- a tremendous achievement of course. It's a big game and lots of things can happen.

Warren not likely to outscore Trace by 22 at the foul line, so expect a single digit outcome. Will be interesting to see how the game is called in the paint guarding the 6-7 Guthrie. Warren by 5.

Miami Trace unlikely to go 2-15 at the free throw line

I think Warren wins, but the length for Miami Trace will be a nice advantage for the Panthers.

MT is very good at not fouling….both teams very well coached. Should be a good one.

Warren doesn’t have anyone as big as Guthrie and Miami Trace doesn’t have anyone as skilled/dynamic as Stadleman. I’d have to give Warren the advantage in this matchup. Warren’s contributors have been there/done that….one win from making the Final Four last year. Guthrie will get his but Stadleman will show why he is the best player in the SE district.

Fairland, Meigs, and Minford combined record of 61-3.
All 3 losses to Warren, they have knocked 3 teams from the ranks of the unbeaten, and I see them adding a forth to that list Tuesday.
Warren playing really well right now.
Warren is such a well rounded team including 4 that come off the bench that would get significant playing time on most teams.
I’ll take the Warriors by 8.

Miami Trace will show why having a legit old school big is important in basketball, none of this 6”7 and i shoot 3’s crap from Guthrie…he will get Warren in foul trouble and control the paint….but the two unsung heroes will be the two 6”4 combo guard play from Trey Robinette and Skye Salyers the two SR’s will most likely have huge a game….the underdog Panthers by 5.

You might be correct about foul trouble, but not likely. SE Ohio refs don’t like calling armbars, two hands, holding, etc and so Wells and Lepardous might be just fine. If that’s the way the officials call the game defensively, they’ll need to allow Guthrie to forcefully back down the Warriors inside, which he is capable of. We just don’t know. So, foul trouble in the paint? Doubt it. I still think Warren’s experience leads to a win.

Haven't had the chance to catch much of MT this year, how deep are they?

Maybe 8 deep.
6th man “ Cade “ can sub in for all 5 positions.

7th man “ Luke “ Combo guard.

8th man “ Connor “ Forward

All 3 are Jr’s

It is hard to beat Maddox after 10 games. He has put his team together and every player knows the game coach wants.

Miami Trace can beat Warren, if they dont fall behind and can stay in their zone. If Warren gets ahead and draws MT out to man to man, game over.

just curious why do believe its game over if they go man ?

In the 3 games that I have seen MT, they were significantly better defensively in their zone with Guthrie clogging the middle and protecting the rim IMHO.

Thats a fair judgement.
They actually play better in man because they cause more turnovers.

They play zone for obvious basketball reasons.

Believe me they rather play man because of how athletic they are

Meant no disrespect. Just my opinion based on the limited times I seen them. Maddox is a great coach. In man to man, I can see him using whoever Guthrie is guarding to set lots of screens, away from the paint, which will make it easier for Warren to score inside. Again, one hoops fan's opinion. I only got to watch Warren verse Minford.
