I agree. I believe Williams won a state championship with Georgetown, Ohio several years ago.

And wasn’t listed as any of the assistants on one of the posts celebrating the team when they got back together in 2019.

Doug Williams was not at Georgetown when they won the state title in 2007. He had the unenviable task of replacing Coach Underwood when he retired from coaching in 2015. Was not a good fit and didn’t last long.

I am pretty sure Doug was not the coach that replaced Underwood, I cant speak to exactly when he got to Georgetown, but I do know that he had a 2 year stretch going 24-0 total in the conference, and 33-14 total those two years, this can be found on the SBAAC stats website? I wouldn't call that a good fit.

Warrior- You made me feel better about not being able to keep it all in order! It is all starting to run together for me too! In order to put facts to your thread here:
1. No one will ever replace Jerry Underwood. He was so good and devoted so much time to that program. (I was actually an assistant Coach at Western Brown during their State Tournament Run) Georgetown had a once in a lifetime amount of talent in 5 players and just the right mix of role guys off the bench that year. Also Georgetown had notoriously moved up to D3 and back to D4 several times while I was working in Brown County. Lucky for Georgetown that was a year that they were D4.
2. I didn't follow Jerry directly. I believe his last year was 14-15 and made it to the Districts. The following year the coaching job was up in the air and former player of Jerry's took them over for that season. They were a 3 Win team that year (15-16). My first year was 16-17 and we won 7 games including 2 D-4 Tournament games that year.
3. After that year Georgetown moved back to D3. 17-18 and 18-19 we won Back to Back League titles without losing a league game. In 18-19 we lost to Reading in the District Semi Finals after our leading scorer and rebounder (Noah Pack 6'9" Point Forward- 5 Years at Thomas Moore U) fouled out.
4. If that is not working out then so be it, but I did not leave on bad terms. I was offered the chance to Coach at Western High School where my grandfather coached all those years ago, and for me to come "home". My wife and I still talk about our time at Georgetown fondly and miss the small town, School and its people.

Love that you all love High School Basketball as much as you do and most of the time I enjoy just reading, but wanted to help out there with facts I know for sure!

Doug, I apologize for the “good fit” statement. That was not meant as a discredit in any way of your success as a coach while at Georgetown. Being an “outsider” myself here in Georgetown while working here for over 30 years, I know how some of the good G-men folks can be and I was very happy that you found a better fit for you and your family at Western. That was all that I meant. Wish you and your team nothing but success in the future.
