All you could see was the Fairland player fly towards the Burg player and shove him and then it was pandalerium!!!

Great win Burg!!
Not exactly sure where you saw that. On the SOSA stream, the camera pans in and then you see Coach Prater take off towards the kids. Then you see a burg player shove a fairland player down after there was an altercation.

Fairland fan did get kicked out right near the end of the game.

I am not partial towards either school and don't know the cultures of either school, but let's not act that either school was in the right here. Both sides made unfortunate mistakes that lead to a bummer end to an amazing game.

Close :)

As for the fight, that’s ridiculous. Don’t expect that from either of these schools.
Ridiculous yes, but I for one am not shocked Fairland was involved in some extra curricular activities. The culture in Proctorville and that school isn’t very good. Sore losers for sure.
Surprised by that. Back in the day, we didn’t have any issues when we played Fairland. We also had some serious size on our team, so wouldn’t have been smart to start a fight. LOL!!

The announcers were talking about a Fairland fan getting escorted out of the gym with 10 seconds left plus read it on another thread.

The Fairland player clearly ran towards the Burg player and shoved him. Now was something said. Probably but it is what it is. Sad ending to a great game.

I meant the fairland player running at burg. Didn't see it on stream but the fan definitely was thrown out. No debate on that.

Fairland has had a reputation of calling opponents n******. I’m not surprised.

Had a good opportunity to watch the whole “altercation” on the HUDL cam at Waverly. Burg kid started it. One of their bench players with a white towel shoved a fairland player in the handshake line. Then, thats when another fairland player came in and pushed the kid with the towel from burg and those two started fighting. Then all heck broke loose and everyone started fighting.

Both teams need to be held responsible.

I was at the game. Congratulations to Wheelersburg for the win. Their defense was on point for 3 qtrs. The Dragons stepped it up to their potential in the 4th qtr and took the lead and had a chance to win the game. Proud of my Dragons for not giving up and a GREAT season. As for the extra curriculars, 2 different Pirates were warned during the game for mouthing and almost got technical fouls and the first person/ player that got knocked to the floor was a Fairland player by a Burg player. Go to the George Carmen website and you will see. There was some arguing and shoving up to that point. Sad ending to a great game by both teams.

Watched to see if the bench player (with the towel) shoved the Fairland player and didn’t see that. But it does appear the Burg player may have said something because the first Fairland player in line stopped and reversed course back towards the Burg player with the towel. Then the third or fourth Fairland player came in with the first shove. After that, came the fireworks.

Also Fairland and Proctorville has a great basketball program and community and we don’t have any reputation besides having a winning tradition. If you’ve lost to us because of that, that doesn’t mean that we are bad sports or any of that. If you’re butt hurt because we beat you on the court then sorry. I will stand behind Fairlands strong basketball tradition and winning tradition.

I played bball against Fairland many times back in the day. Never an issue. No trash talking on the court, coaching staff was a class act, etc.

y’all need to keep watching if you just wanna blame burg. 13 for Fairland talked alllllll game that kid got serious issues. He was talking non stop and instigating like crazy rumor has it that it was his dad that was tossed if true the apple sure didn’t fall far. I’ve watched Fairland 3 times this kid is into it w everyone every game

not saying any burg kid is innocent either but the Fairland kid deserves plenty of blame and decided to make it physical instead of just talkin and that’s what happens in the real world ppl hit back

Handshakes should be at the beginning of ball games and after the game No shakes. Too much emotion at the end where it takes 1 or 2 people to get something started!

We can’t just keep altering and making societal norms easier and easier every generation.

Embarrassing on both teams. I’ve heard the Fairland story before, saw it at the Ironton football game this year. As for Burg, thought they were a classy program?

Guess they aren’t too used to winning these games lol

We sure can.

We did it during COVID, we waived at the other team rather than hand shake lines, and there is real data to show there were 0 fights when that happened.

There is no "rule or policy" saying you have to shake hands after a game. If you watch most professional sports, they go and hug or shake hands if they choose to. There is more than one way to show respect without shaking someone's hand after a game. AS long as there have been handshake lines, there have been fights after. Plenty of quantitative and qualitative data to show it has been occurring for decades.

We teach our kids if something is bothering them or they can't control their emotions, they take a walk and get away from what is bothering them to calm themselves. Going straight to the locker room to let the winner celebrate doesn't take away from anything. It's archaic at this point to believe otherwise.
