What a game. New Lex 60, Meigs 53. Final (OT)
** No disrespect but I don’t think the better players won,
but a better-prepared team sure did. Meigs was undisciplined and New Lex was superb handling the ball all game, even under extreme pressure down the stretch.

watch via internet- have not seen either team play this year- I was thinking as the game went that Meigs was the better team but New Lexington is a hard nosed team that you can never count out- maybe it was just their night but they just dug and dug and did what they needed to win. Thought the Big guy for Meigs was very impressive but missed some as it turned free throws in the 4th. The point guard for New Lexington was very impressive running his team. Good Luck to New Lexington - they play the winner of Maysville vs Indian Valley from the East District.

One game doesn't define a season, but what a missed opportunity for Meigs. New Lex just knew what they were doing. Too much attempted reliance on one player for Meigs.SouthEast Hoops Fan wrote: Thu Feb 27, 2025 9:37 pm What a game. New Lex 60, Meigs 53. Final (OT)

Agree. This game did not go the way I expected. I have watched Meigs play several times. Early in the season as well as late. They dominated wins but when they played teams that were disciplined and executed their game plan against Meigs- it was a tight game or resulted in a loss for the Marauders. When they played Warren- they outsized the Warriors- not to mention they have some really great players but Warren is probably one of the more disciplined teams in the SE when it comes to executing their game plan. Meigs took shots from the volleyball line when they should've been inside with their size advantage. Warren stuck to their game plan as did New Lex.
Meigs will bring back most of their starters next year so I am sure there will be another run.

Meigs relied too much on one player. He is a good player but made some critically bad shots at some really bad times. Not sure why they didn't just pound the rock inside. Guard play was also the difference in this game. Meigs lost a critical shot at winning their first ever district title, whether it was D 4 or D 12 or whatever Div. it is.

Who all is back? Davis, Tracey and Brinager? Everyone else is gone correct? Clealand is back as well right? Not sure his skill but I watched the JV a couple game and I’m not sure they have a single kid that will be ready to step into big time minutes next year. Granted those 3 returning are a great 3 to have but I believe they lose most if not all the role/bench players.SEOsportchamp23 wrote: Fri Feb 28, 2025 8:00 amSouthEast Hoops Fan wrote: Thu Feb 27, 2025 9:37 pm What a game. I completely agree! That team has no reason to relay one player. Davis is no doubt a great shooter but has no business taking that many contested shots. Just wasting possession. Completely under utilizing Reed Brinager and Dustin Vance. In my personal opinion Brinager is the best player on the court at all times, he can take anyone to the hoop and score at any time. Not to mention his phenomenal defense and rebounding ability. Then you have Dustin Vance a very hard nosed forward when given the ball in post, over powers his defenders majority of time. You just can’t win basketball games when you have no form of offense and letting one player do what he wants. NOT gonna happen!baseball16 wrote: Fri Feb 28, 2025 9:21 am Meigs relied too much on one player. He is a good player but made some critically bad shots at some really bad times.
