DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP Waverly (7) vs Unioto (2)
Re: DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP Waverly (7) vs Unioto (2)
Honestly was never close. Zickafoose and Welch locked up 10. Not sure if coaching made much of a difference in this one…
Re: DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP Waverly (7) vs Unioto (2)
I figured Zane Trace could not get good looks against Unioto both times they played, so Waverly would not. The Tigers did not.bucknuts09 wrote: Thu Feb 27, 2025 4:51 amI will say Waverly has played consistently tougher competition all year long, and the youngins are growing up! I will say Waverly by 1

I’m not sure if we watched the same game or not, but waverly ran zero sets other than the first play of the game which was a lob set thrown off the rim that was wide wide open, next we’ll get to the 2nd half unioto brings the press as the tigers have NO actual press break just try to isolate 10 where he gets trapped, THEN throw it to the other team and let them get layup after layup before any time out. Very very poor performance.Tanks3232 wrote: Thu Feb 27, 2025 10:07 pm Honestly was never close. Zickafoose and Welch locked up 10. Not sure if coaching made much of a difference in this one…

Re: DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP Waverly (7) vs Unioto (2)
The lack of a press break was maybe the most surprising thing I saw in a game filled with surprises.
Re: DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP Waverly (7) vs Unioto (2)
I didn’t stay for the 2nd game, but sometimes ball pressure can make it next to impossible to run “sets” especially if you’re getting bumped off your spot by a more physical opponent.
Re: DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP Waverly (7) vs Unioto (2)
Well, this is what I know to be true. When you have kids who think they are NBA stars in high school who wanna run the show and not be team plyers, things tend to not work out for the "team". However, when this team played together and it wasnt an all for one ordeal, they were on fire. You can truly tell which kids are a ball hog with the same exact moves every single game and which ones are there to work together and play ball to win. A one man show doesnt win ball games. As for the drama, well let me tell ya, it all started with a so called parent not only trying to take the coaches place but also getting mad being a keyboard warrior all because her kid didnt start on senior night (which hasnt for 2yrs now), then tried going to other parents and members trying to get them going too, going as far as saying things like "oh he will listen to me or ill make sure he gets fired". This one parent made so much drama for those waverly boys that it overflowed into the lockeroom and tore the team apart. Then as if that wasnt enough, certain kids are allowing parents from the stands dictate plays each game instead of listening to the coach and the coach's plays. Then, fans or friends of parents are showing up to games drunk, yelling and screaming the coach sucks n such. Its sad when directors and such know these parents and are so annoyed with them they dont want anything to do with them or want to even speak to them cause they "already know the problems come from them". Its sad, from what ive seen and heard, these few parents ruined senior year for those seniors this year which is pretty pathetic. Now how can a coach actually do his job with these things going on? Hell who would even want to? I understand everyone wants their kid to be #1 but sometimes, you gotta know YOU are the problem and take accountability and shut up. Everyone is trying to bash the coach on here and from what ive seen, that coach isnt the problem the parents thinking they can run the show over everyone and kids being ball hogs only thinking of themselves is the problem. After all, have you all not been to a waverly game and heard the same two parents screaming stuff they have no clue what they are talking about or not seen those parents get kicked out? Come on, its obvious what the problem is there i think.
Re: DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP Waverly (7) vs Unioto (2)
watch via internet- thought Unioto played a nice game- have not seen them play this year but on this night seemed balanced. I followed coach Combs a tiny bit and he is a good coach- looking at Unioto's schedule and scores it looks as if this team has improved as the season has gone and that is a tribute to the coach. Do not think Unioto has amazing athletes on this team but seem to play good together and they have a deep bench this usually equals success.
Unioto plays winner of #6 seeded Buckeye Valley and #1 seeded Marion River Valley from the Central District.

You signed up for an account to post this?? You want to act like it was the parents fault with all the problems in the locker room but then you literally just spent the first 4 sentences of your response basking as you quoted kids who think they're NBA stars and not being team players and saying how you can tell who the ball hog is and making the same moves. Then you want to put blame on one parent being a keyboard warrior and YOU signed up for an account to be a keyboard warrior?? I mean I really hope you see within this post how much of a hypocrite you are, must be the coaches wife we've all heard so much aboutMyTurn2 wrote: Fri Feb 28, 2025 1:02 am Well, this is what I know to be true. Re: DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP Waverly (7) vs Unioto (2)
We shot better than usual, and waverly had one kid that could dribble. I didn’t see any good shooters from waverly , I’m not sure why the fans are mad they didn’t win the district. They weren’t even a 500 team, to get that far and beat Jackson is a great season for that team. That was the only game I saw them play so ppl could have been off idk. Biggest difference to me was unioto has a lot of football guys that play, we were way stronger and more physical.

Coaches wife?
Hell no
your reaching there big time
Do you truly think a coach's wife is gonna get on here and respond to all this bs and make matters worse for them? Come on now lol.
And hypocrite? Thats so funny! Sounds like your actually one of those parents and i can prob guess which one LOL. Just calling a spade a spade here lol. All these threads are people behind keyboards talkin poop (not all just some) but you wanna try bashing me all cuz i spit facts? Lol. Way too funny!. Something wrong with stating facts or would you like screenshots and videos to back it up too? Theres plenty. Or is the true problem that said parents are gettin called out for what they really are, the problem? Bottom line is this, you cant point fingers blaming just the coach this season without knowing the back story lol. I can go back and forth all day bout this whats the point its not like its gonna get anywhere. The seasons over anyways. I just feel sorry for these kids cause this year could have went so much better.
As for the game, unioto was on fire shooting,i wont deny that. However, doin things like smackin in the face, hitn in the eye and stuff intentionally (it was obvious it was intentional) isnt cool in any game and the waverly boys didnt seem to play like we seen the last few tourney games. Its that simple so yeah they did seem like they were off. Either way, no one expected them to even get past the first game let alone go to convo so hats off to them. Just goes to shot how good they can be when they work together
Everyone has their 2 cents and thats mine
after all, opinions are like assholes and everyones got one right? LOL.

The Waverly team and parents should be excited and proud that they won 2 playoff games….WCH had them beat, and they grinded out that win, and than they go and upset Jackson…but you know parents they can ruin it all….this is a young team and have big potential to be good the next couple of years

Dont like to argue on this website but are we serious? You are grown adult commenting on 14-18 year old kids. At the end of the day it's just a basketball season and you are putting the issues on kids instead of the person responsible for the team. If you truly believe it was the "crazy parents" then why didn't the coach address something? I don't think it can be "crazy parents" at 3 schools. Good luck in his job search!!MyTurn2 wrote: Fri Feb 28, 2025 1:02 am Well, this is what I know to be true. Everyone’s proud of the kids, and to be honest they should have been better what they were…. But they are young and have a bright future ahead. Now I don’t think anyone’s mad about the fact they lost, but in the manner they lost. We had no offense and the no press breaker KILLED US I mean killed us, from an 8 point deficit to like a 16 before the timeout not blaming everything on Bradley at all but last night was rough.TheOHIOBully wrote: Fri Feb 28, 2025 8:39 am The Waverly team and parents should be excited and proud that they won 2 playoff games….WCH had them beat, and they grinded out that win, and than they go and upset Jackson…but you know parents they can ruin it all….this is a young team and have big potential to be good the next couple of years

This is spot on, Waverly does lack the shooting and really all the impact players are freshman and sophomore. This team is a year out and 2 years from being a complete handful. Jackson had just beat Waverly by 14 couple weeks ago so to turn around and beat them that’s a positive note for sure going into the offseasonRolltanks wrote: Fri Feb 28, 2025 6:17 am We shot better than usual, and waverly had one kid that could dribble. Do you know what the definition of hypocrisy is?? Your first post is littered with it nonstop, spitting facts?? What facts did you spit, you blamed things on kids and then went on to blame parents and even pointed out the parent, then called them a keyboard warrior. All person you didn’t blame was coach, so yeah IMyTurn2 wrote: Fri Feb 28, 2025 8:24 am Coaches wife?Hell no

Unioto shot significantly worse from the field (6%) and the exact same 3pt% as their average as well in this game.
