Meigs County Boys Basketball

Post by ZTPMM88 »

I'm not old enough to have been around during the heyday of the "Runnin' Tornadoes" from the early 1980s, but I was thinking that (please correct me if I am misinformed) this season is probably the best season for varsity boys basketball in Meigs County.

Currently Meigs is sitting at 19-1 and undefeated in league play. Clinched TVC title for first time in nearly forty years

Southern at 16-3 and also undefeated in league play and then sitting in 2nd place is Eastern at 12-8 overall

I just can't recall Meigs County enjoying this much success in boys basketball in a given season. Would really be neat to get at least two teams from the county into the Convo this year...

Good post and all very true. All three programs have been building up through their junior high teams for several years now. Fans in all three districts have been looking forward to these groups becoming upperclassman. I think there is a good chance all three squads make it to the Convo.

If all 3 teams from Meigs County make it to the Roundhouse on Richland this year, that sure would be cool to see. On a side note, Southern better bring everything it has and then some this Friday. Eastern battled them to OT the first matchup and will undoubtedly throw everything it has and the kitchen sink the second go round. Rivalry games just mean more and the Eastern Eagles very well could spoil the gold basketball for the Tornadoes this Friday evening. An old rivalry gets renewed so to speak tomorrow evening with Southern playing Southeastern. Those two programs have had quite the battles in many seasons long ago...

Tomorrow's games are highly contingent on the weather.

Coach Davis was a big addition to Meigs ! Not only a great coach but he has a 6’7 son to add to the team. That definitely helps! 😆

It was the perfect storm this year for those three teams to improve while the rest of the TVC is as bad as I’ve seen it in years. Hopefully they all can represent well in the tournament.

Colton Lloyd from Eastern is an excellent player and a very nice young man. Good luck to Eastern in the tournament.

They won’t be playing at the Convo this season. How down is the TVC this year really.

Southern is another case study on why we need bracket placement in this area. Is there anyone on the planet that really thinks Southern is better than Fairfield, Western, Manchester, or even Green? As a matter of fact I think I’d take Whiteoak over the Tornadoes.

TVC was really bad in both divisions. Meigs needs to upgrade their schedule outside of the TVC next year to have a legitimate shot at winning the District.
