FAC Looking to Expand..
Re: FAC Looking to Expand..
They've been looking to expand for the last what 3-4 years, it's the same thing every single year this isn't new. They reached out to Waverly 2 years ago and Waverly turned them down as they had no plan going forward said they wanted 2 teams. Had Waverly gone in at that time they would've had no say in what other team went in. So anyone discussing Waverly can just put that one to rest, Waverly is only looking at the SVC is there was an expansion there. There's a greater chance of seeing Hillsboro and or McClain leave than we see a team except a FAC invitation, that's the reality of it. You don't see a conference searching for this long and not find a taker, teams don't want to play Miami Trace, Jackson and to a point Chillicothe these schools are just simply that much bigger than everyone in the area. Things are taken much more seriously those teams are fielding individual 7th, 8th, freshman, JV and varsity teams. As always love seeing the talk on it each year but it'll once again fall on deaf ears, they offered to pay for Waverly to leave the SOC they offered up everything but a plan going forward for the additional team. I think there are not many schools wanting to get in a league with Jackson even if they could compete in the other sports. Football is THE sport, and no one want to play for #2 every year. I can see Hillsboro and McClain going elsewhere and then it would be just a matter of time before the FAC broke up. Southeastern Ohio is becoming a division 3 and less district unless a ton of school consolidate.
Yeah, Chillicothe once was in the OCC and the Central Ohio League .

Conference changes are nothing new.
And if travel is a concern , how about the Greater Ohio League. Portsmouth to Lima would have been 180 miles.
They say nothing is impossible, yet I accomplish nothing every day.

Re: FAC Looking to Expand..
Its actually been since 2018. Thats when they first announced they were looking to expand. I believe around that time Unioto, Circleville and Logan Elm said "no thanks" to the FAC. Just a few weeks ago they sent out a message telling nearby schools that they are looking to expand again, and if I had to guess its going to be an overwhelming "no" once again. I totally agree with you, the reason this league can't expand is because Jackson, Chillicothe and Miami Trace will smoke them in a majority of sports, and they are all in situations where they can compete just fine in, really no reason to make the jump to the FAC. If East Clinton does leave the SBAAC, (creating a second opening in the league) Hillsboro and McClain are packing their bags and bolting. I think Chillicothe, Jackson, Miami Trace and WCH will then be a four man conference for awhile.greygoose wrote: Wed Mar 05, 2025 11:46 am They've been looking to expand for the last what 3-4 years, it's the same thing every single year this isn't new. If Hillsboro and McClain leave, I think you’ll see the FAC go after Logan pretty hard. If Logan doesn’t find success in the next few years in the OCC, it may be a bidding war between the FAC and the TSL on who gets the Chiefs.fball43 wrote: Wed Mar 05, 2025 2:36 pmIts actually been since 2018. Re: FAC Looking to Expand..
JMO: The FAC conference should force out Jackson (just for the drive alone), M.T. will be leaving soon when they jump to D-2 or possibly D-1 and extend offers to Wilmington, Logan Elm, and possibly Circleville, but C'ville is growing also and could be pushed to D-2. Keep the FAC relatively to D-3 and D-4 schools and if they want to play bigger schools do it with your non-conference schedule. I think this would be the only way you keep Hillsboro and McClain from jumping to SVC or another conference.
Re: FAC Looking to Expand..
I don’t see the Svc taking in schools. Even if they want to go big school little school I would hope it would be two 8 team conferences. The idea of a 6 team conference would be horrible imo. I would hate for that to happen to the Svc.
Re: FAC Looking to Expand..
I think if you include Clinton-Massie this would be an ideal scenario as I don’t see Wilmington going anywhere without them. I know the SCOL ended partly because of Massie football, but in every other sport Massie will be either on par or below average, and I do eventually think their football program will cool down a lot very soon. This looks like an SCOL revival!First and Goal wrote: Thu Mar 06, 2025 9:36 am JMO: The FAC conference should force out Jackson (just for the drive alone), M.T. will be leaving soon when they jump to D-2 or possibly D-1 and extend offers to Wilmington, Logan Elm, and possibly Circleville, but C'ville is growing also and could be pushed to D-2. Amanda-Clearcreek
Circleville
Fairfield-Union
Logan Elm
Unioto
Waverly
Washington CH
Westfall/Zane Trace
Greenfield McClain?
Could work well. With Northwest and Eastern taking the 2 spots in the small schools
Re: FAC Looking to Expand..
Could go with six to a division with a couple cross over plus two out of conference that are close by.Rolltanks wrote: Thu Mar 06, 2025 9:43 am I don’t see the Svc taking in schools. Miami Trace will never be D1 -be a chance several years down the road of getting to D2 but even if you double the amount of boys they have now they still would not be D1.

The league I proposed in another post is what I would want keep the Svc schools together add waverly Logan elm and circleville every game would be a rival game but idk what the small Svc schools would donoreply66 wrote: Thu Mar 06, 2025 10:36 amCould go with six to a division with a couple cross over plus two out of conference that are close by.Rolltanks wrote: Thu Mar 06, 2025 9:43 am I don’t see the Svc taking in schools. Could but the whole reason for the Svc to change at all would be because the small schools don’t want to play the big schools so why would they still want to play two of them?noreply66 wrote: Thu Mar 06, 2025 10:36 amCould go with six to a division with a couple cross over plus two out of conference that are close by.Rolltanks wrote: Thu Mar 06, 2025 9:43 am I don’t see the Svc taking in schools. You are saying MT would be gone and mention Wilm . Wilm has been D1 in the pazt before the new divisions. But if the FAC can’t expand they are doomed. One of Hillsboro or Miami Trace will be leaving this league very soon imo. I think this league can survive at 6 members, but everyone has to be bought in.
Re: FAC Looking to Expand..
The SBAAC has a spot open and Hillsboro is the perfect fit for it. They would improve the travel situation by not having to go to Jackson anymore and it’s very similar competition. They probably won’t leave McClain behind, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Hillsboro at least considers it.jose wrote: Thu Mar 06, 2025 11:57 amNeither will be going anywhere in the forseeable future unless the league disbands.fball43 wrote: Tue Mar 04, 2025 1:13 pmWith Honda opening I think Jamestown Greeneview will see some growth and eventually outgrow the OHC, they could be a Miami Trace replacement as they aren’t a bad fit geographically.go court house wrote: Tue Mar 04, 2025 6:15 am The FAC must expand to stay relevant. Re: FAC Looking to Expand..
Those days are long over. Wilmington has lost some enrollment, and they are extremely similar in enrollment numbers to Hillsboro. Wilmington was not the biggest school in the SCOL. Chillicothe was, Wilmington wasn’t terribly far behind. If Miami Trace doesn’t get a huge influx in enrollment then they will definitely stay with the FAC/SCOL reformed. They’ve been in a league with WCH, Hillsboro and McClain forever.jose wrote: Thu Mar 06, 2025 11:44 amYou are saying MT would be gone and mention Wilm . Hillsboro was in the SBAAC several years ago. Wasn't a good fit for them. Crowds were down as well. Re: FAC Looking to Expand..
Correct, I believe they left around 2005 or so. From a travel and competitive standpoint the SBAAC is a perfect fit. Hillsboro just lacks any real history with any school in the SBAAC except maybe Western Brown as those two play each other in a lot of sports. So that’s why crowds were probably down for them.jose wrote: Thu Mar 06, 2025 12:43 pmHillsboro was in the SBAAC several years ago. Wasn't a good fit for them. Crowds were down as well. Hillsboro 3,4,1,3,2
Jackson 3,4,1,3,2
MT 3,3,1,3,2
Chill 3,3,1,3,2
WCH 4,4,2,4,2
McClain 4,4,2,4,2
So why are you saying Hillsboro needs to leave to be competitive. They are same divisions as Jackson in all 5 sports, Basketball is the only difference with MT and Chillicothe being 3
