2025 OVC Football
2025 OVC Football
Just a few months away from hearing the pads cracking. What are everyone's thoughts on the upcoming season, conference wise? Who's returning what, at least 2 new coaching staffs for the upcoming season, and what transfers are teams gaining and/or losing? How about OOC schedule changes?
Anyone changing divisions?
Last season's results:
1st place Fairland - 10-2 overall, 6-0 in conference. Division 5
2nd place Portsmouth - 8-4, 5-1. Division 5
3rd place Coal Grove Dawson-Bryant - 6-4, 4-2. Division 5
4th place Rock Hill - 8-4, 3-3. Division 6
5th place Chesapeake - 5-6, 2-4 Division 6
6th place Gallia Academy - 1-9, 1-5 Division 4
7th place South Point - 1-9, 0-6 Division 5
Coal Grove returns Kaden Murphy who ran for 1674 yards and 25 TD's (22 TD's Rushing), He had a monster game against RH with 321 rushing yards and 5 TD's. Rylan Smith returns at QB, the Mcknight twins return, Caden Turner returns at FB and to the DL. They return a bunch on the line and the Klaiber boys will be a year older.
Fairland graduates Kam Kitts RB 501 rushing yards 9 TD's, Mr. Do it all Jack Hayden QB,RB,LB passed for 256 yards and 4 TD's while rushing for 475 yards and 7 TD's and 390 yards receiving and 6 TD's, Lucas Bompus, CJ Graham, QB-Ethan Wall 1860 yards passing and 20 TD's, WR-Keegan Smith 696 yards receiving and 7 TD's, Quinton Cremeans, Will Callicoat. A lot of production.
Rock Hill is very intriguing, They are under the direction of a proven Head Coach-Tony Love, however they graduated their leading weapon on offense and defense in Anthony Stamper; 73 tackles, 7 INT's on D and 1795 rushing yards and 23 TD's on offense. Also gone to graduation is Sam Rusk, Mason Hanners, Logan Hopper, Drew Schug, Grant Bevins, Gage Clutters, Wyatt Jenkins, Ryan Clement, Eli Smith & Zach O'Bryant; all very key in last year's success. They do return QB Dallin Cox and top receiver Braylon McClellan as well as 6'5" 290lb 2-way lineman Daniel Medinger, but gone to transfer is LB/FB Brody Simpkins and WR Bryson Kerns. Also, I saw their schedule on social media, they lost Symmes Valley and Belpre off their schedule and replaced with Boyd Co. and Purcell Marian.
Portsmouth Graduated is RB-Chase Heiland 840yards rushing and 14 TD's, 1150 yards his Jr. year; Also graduated is dual threat QB J.T. Williams 633 yards passing and 5 TD's and 565 yards rushing with 7 TD's. Coming back will be Cameron Williams who QB'd as a freshman went to WR last season and led the Trojans in Rec yards with 221 yards on 20 receptions.
Chesapeake will be under a new coaching staff as will Gallia, if I am not mistaken. Peake graduated a bunch, and I don't know a ton about Gallia.
Don't hardly know anything about SP, but would like to see them get back to winning some games.
Looking forward to another year of OVC Football.

Re: 2025 OVC Football
Portsmouth lost I think 16 seniors, about 13 of them started or played regularly. I believe they will still have a pretty solid season with the players they have returning. I could see 6 maybe 7 wins. Picking up Unioto and dropping Valley. Question is who will be QB. Marquez Locklear was the backup last year, Cam Williams started his freshman year when older brother JT was hurt, you also have incoming freshman Mekhi Berry who was the 8th grade QB last season. Should be an interesting summer.

Great rundown and info!! Thanks!! I'm impressed how well Coach Kalb does at getting in his school's halls to get his athletes out... Good luck on the season!!BuckeyeBlood wrote: Thu Mar 06, 2025 10:31 am Portsmouth lost I think 16 seniors, about 13 of them started or played regularly. Should be a huge test for us. We have lot coming back but have to replace 4 all state players. We have been solid recently but that’s in the Svc. Hopefully we have a good showing, we struggle with teams outside the Svc so I hope we can keep it competitive.BuckeyeBlood wrote: Thu Mar 06, 2025 10:31 am Portsmouth lost I think 16 seniors, about 13 of them started or played regularly. I think Portsmouth should have some pretty good skill players coming up. If they can put together some lineman and linebackers they should have a pretty decent year.

Re: 2025 OVC Football
I expect Rock Hill to win the OVC next year. The coach has turned around the hill with some exceptional coaching and expectations for the program. They showed a lot of heart last year in year 1 and only expect better things to come.
Raise the Jolly Roger!!!

Things will definitely improve at Peake over the next few years. I’ve heard they have added some nice names to coordinator positions! The key will be getting kids back out that wouldn’t play for the previous staff.
Re: 2025 OVC Football
The Peake had a meeting for those who were planning on playing . From what what I heard there was 40 plus there.

Fairland lost 13 seniors, almost all of their skill positions. Wall is gone, Hayden, Kitts, Graham, Bompus, Smith, Cremeans, and numerous lineman. I think Fairland will be down.fielddaddy wrote: Fri Mar 07, 2025 6:34 pm Should be Fairland then coal Grove

Wide open this year but if I were to bet the house, Coal Grove or Rock Hill. Excited to see Coach Hutch’s rebuild at Chesapeake.

Re: 2025 OVC Football
I think it’ll be interesting to see how Rock Hill replaces Stamper. He ran the ball over 200 times for them, over 300 receiving yards, second on the team in tackles, had 7 interceptions. They also lost a few other good players on defense.
Re: 2025 OVC Football
Saw a video on Facebook and looks like Chesapeake has good numbers for their offseason weightlifting. Is “Cannonball” Wells assisting in any way? I thought I saw him in the Facebook video, but I could be mistaken.
