Best Player of all time

Post by Eugene 2011 »

This topic is made to discuss who the best male and female player is from each school ever and of all time. And who is the best female and male player to ever come from SEO. I want no Burg and Ironton crap on this topic.

I am assuming you mean Basketball

Burg Boys

Todd Staker/Tanner Holden/Drew Burleson would all probably be a tie

Girls
Kerry Cremeans/Amy Hughes would probably be a tie

Overall Boys: Brett Roberts
Overall Girls: Katie Smith

Agree with the 2 ladies with Kerry playing at Florida and Amy at UConn/Xavier
The 3 Burg boys you list are on my all time starting 5 for the Pirates, just add Brad Walke and Mark Eaton
If I had to pick the best, it has to be Holden with what he accomplished at the college level and currently being a member of the Dallas Maverick’s G league team
Concerning the overall for SE Ohio, certainly can’t argue with Roberts and Smith

I know back in 1991 when Roberts averaged 30+. He was something different back in the day easily the best ever from SEO. I watched some of his game on YouTube he was very cool to watch. You can find them if you search Brett Roberts South Webster Ohio. This team also included Pat Tubs from Portsmouth.

I feel lucky to be the exact same age and she came to Jackson every year for volleyball, basketball and track.

You simply had to see her to believe it.

I agree. Just looking at the state record book, Dante is placed amongst the state leaders in several categories, including near the top for the SE district. He would definitely need to be in the discussion as far as his high school accomplishments.

For Boys in the SE
1st in Career Points
4th in Career Rebounds
1st in Career FG%

Went on to be a 3-year starter at Xavier, on teams that made the Sweet 16 multiple times and the Elite Eight once. Wasn’t a superstar at Xavier like he was at McClain, but a very solid player on a quality program that won 107 games in his 4 years.

Katie Smith is clearly the pick on the girls side, but I’ll toss Unioto’s Aubrey Eblin in as a great player as well. Scored 14 points for Old Dominion in the 1997 National Championship game for the Monarchs and had a really nice career there as well.

I watched Spriggs play when I was in high school. Didn't he have a brother or cousin that play at that time? I also remember another guy that played with Eddie with the last name Thomas /Thompson was about 6' 07'. Might have played end on the football team.

From Athens I remember Todd Snyder. He could take over a game. Might have been around 6' 04. But his jumping ability was wild.

if going just on highschool ball stollings from eastern has to be in the conversation. I believe she may still be the top scorer career in ohio, boys or girls
she avg 28.4 as a freshman, 34.7 as a soph, 40.3 junior and 42.5 as a senior, incredible

For Boys:
1. D. Jackson-McClain
2. Larry Hisle- Portsmouth
3. John Milhoan-GA (high school all American if I’m not mistaken)
4. Charlie Slack- Pomeroy (All American at Marshall; holds NCAA rebounding record that’ll never be broken)
5. PJ Rase-Chesapeake (gets sorely underrated but 3 out of his 4 years are still in the top 30 all time in FT% in OHSAA History)
6. Nick Aldridge and Brett Roberts-South Webster. Both made massive impacts on their teams and could score in bunches. Nick is a 2,000 point scorer.
7. Ed Spriggs-Jackson. Played at Miami FLA. 3 time high school all American. If I’m not mistaken, averaged about 31 PPG and 20 RPG his senior year at Jackson.

For Girls:
1. Katie Smith-Logan. Arguably one of the greatest women’s basketball ever in High School, College, and the Pros.
2. Marlene Stollings-Eastern Pike. The next closest player to her for total points in OHSAA History for girl’s basketball is 516 points away from her. 3,514 points.
3. Jamie Lewis-Oak Hill. Sorely underrated. Over 1,500 career points in high school. 2001 NIT Champion and 2001 NIT MVP while at Ohio State.
