Canceled TV shows....
Re: Canceled TV shows....
Possibly good news for fans of "Jericho"-the series might be re-aired on the CW on Sundays, replacing the MRC garbage they just yanked. However, I don't see the CW surviving much longer unless they do a DRASTIC makeover & find a hit or two. In their infinite wisdom, they dropped "Smackdown", their highest-rated show, which often drew some 5 million viewers. After all, rasslin' has a devoted following TV can count on viewing week in & week out. It was picked up by My Network, which was sorely in need of a hit, & jumped at the opportunity.
Re: Canceled TV shows....
Loox as if NBC is yanking "Knight Rider". The new version simply didn't catch on as Hasselhoff's show did.
Re: Canceled TV shows....
FX is ending(not cancelling) "The Shield", one of the better cop shows. They say it's run its course & they wanna go out before the show soured completely.(So they can sell more DVDs, I suppose!)
Re: Canceled TV shows....
This isn't a cancellation notice, but a warning: NBC is premiering a stupid new reality/dating show called "Momma's Boys", Dec. 16th; its theme is single adult males seeking gitlfriends with their mothers' help!
I know NBC is having an abysmal season, but this is a new low for them, airing a show in a stupid genre that has all-but-died from TV!
I predict it'll quickly tank, & be cancelled, the sooner the better. It's the kinda show that makes me glad I have 115 channels, these PCs, & videogame consoles!

Re: Canceled TV shows....
Not a notice, but a prediction: the next cancellation will be NBC's goshawful "Kath & Kim".
Re: Canceled TV shows....
FX has cancelled "30 days", a show in which Morgan Spurlock would place himself in certain situations & comment about how much it coulda changed him in 30 days. Typical FX stupidity; I doubt if too many of you ever watch FX anyway. I don't.
Re: Canceled TV shows....
CNBC's "Conversations With Michael Eisner" was ended by Eisner himself(CEO of Disney Studios) dueta horrible ratings.
Re: Canceled TV shows....
DSC is ending "Survivorman", a show in which survival expert Les Stroud is placed in extreme conditions & must work his own way out. (I assume his cameraman had to do so also!) I believe the last eppy will be aired tonight.
Re: Canceled TV shows....
The new "American Gladiators" is now toast. It just didn't have the "charisma" of the original. Dunno if they're gonna air the remaining eps or not.

Re: Canceled TV shows....
CBS has yanked "Million Dollar Password", although the last ep was watched by over 10 million viewers. The reason? Not enough younger viewers!
No word on whether it's cancelled or not, but it'd cost a lot for them to have Regis Philbin as host, & CBS wants a younger demographic of viewers.

Re: Canceled TV shows....
Fox has cancelled "Prison Break". However, they're gonna air all the eps already in the can, beginning sometime in April.
Here's why it's generally useless to waste time & money trying to get a network to reverse a decision to cancel a show: When CBS cancelled Jericho, there was a large outpouring of petitions, emails, etc. sent to CBS, so they reluctantly renewed it. However, it played to abysmal ratings, leading CBS to regret their renewal decision & in effect saying "Never again." The other nets paid attention to this, of course, since CBS has been the viewership leader for the last several years.
Also, when a show is cancelled, the sets are usually dismantled, the camera/lighting crews remove their equipmant, & the performers are usually free to seek employment elsewhere; most quickly find other work. Thus, to renew a cancelled show would cost the net many millions of $$$ more than the initial startup did. and they know if it wasn't a hit to start with, it's not gonna become one in a second life. Now while it seemed that a lotta viewers petitioned for Jericho to be resurrected, it really wasn't too many outta the potential viewership out there.
The lowly CW net-ette, desperately seeking a hit show, and, being largely owned by CBS, picked up Jericho to re-run it, and it's not even drawing a million viewers. Needless to say, this is prolly the last airing of Jericho anywhere.
After being so severely burned with a show that was once a hit, CBS will most likely never reverse another cancellation, and neither will the other nets. One exception seemsta be NBC, which is bringing back the flop Cupid. I don't understand it; the show quickly tanked in its first season in 1998 & there's no reason to believe it would be successful now!

Re: Canceled TV shows....
CBS has apparently ended "Swingtown".
Nowadays, nets don't often announce cancellations outright, but simply 'discontinue' a show. When you see news that its cast has found other work, no new eps are planned, or its set is being disassembled, you can pretty well figure a show is toast. That's the case with "Swingtown".

Re: Canceled TV shows....
ABC Family has axed Kyle XY, but apparently all eps in the can will be aired, the finale being on March 16.
Re: Canceled TV shows....
I was fooled by a coupla shows. The lame Crusoe was allowed to complete its run, and the worse Kath & Kim is still on.
Re: Canceled TV shows....
I have never watched it, but I have heard many critics loves Kyle XY. Were the ratings so bad that even ABC Family wouldn't carry it?

Yeah.
Also, not too many SPONSORS were interested. No matter how good a show is, the rule of thumb is that if the Neilsens are low, the show is toast-and is quickly BURNT TOAST if the SPONSORS don't like it. Unfortunately, Neilsens & sponsors decide what's aired on TV.
Re: Canceled TV shows....
Loox as if Twentieth Fox is cancelling Cristina's Court, one of the best court shows out there, dueta declining Neilsens. However, it will run new eps thru September 2009.
Re: Canceled TV shows....
The Morning Show With Mike & Juliet, carried on many Fox stations, is cancelled dueta declining Neilsens. However, it will air until Sept. 2009.
Re: Canceled TV shows....
The USA net has dumped Starter Wife. The weekly series just couldn't generate the viewership the miniseries did. Far as I'm concerned, no big loss.
