When I was a kid we would start down East and make a right and go to culver and turn left there and if we had a little ice we could just about make it to Hunter. Now days that would be able six blocks. Lived on East from 1952 to 1969. Had a lot of old folks that i bugged the crap out of.

What year did Maces open up Noreply? That was a cool little store on that end of town. Pretty sure it was called Maces, I'm not 100% sure though.

Yep, it was, but I can't remember the name of it. That store was open for a long time even when it was called Maces.

Maces was the name.....before them a preacher bought it from Howard Blums family and ran it for a few years then sold it to Mace. Price was the preacher name.

How many years would you say the store was operating? I remember it all my kid years and it was open before and long after that.

It was Howards when I moved to East Street and that was in 1952. Gas was around 25 cents. I would go down and buy bread, milk and a pack of cigs for the old man and have change left from a $1.00. No one said anything about buying the cigs.

When I was a senior in 1966 you could buy a cup cake and 16 oz bottle of soda for 25 cents. Cup cake 12 cents and soda 13 if you had a deposit bottle.
