Fairfield has a tough week @ St. Charles (D1, 15-1) on Tuesday and @ Bloom-Carroll on Thursday. Also @ Teays Valley on Saturday, but most voting may be done by then.

If Fairfield wins the Tuesday and Thursday games, they should be the slam dunk No. 1. I'd still put them No. 1 with a split.

1. Fairfield Union, 2. Vinton County, 3. Warren, 4. Logan Elm, 5. Meigs, 6, Sheridan, 7. Athens, 8. Marietta, 9. New Lex.

Athens has River Valley Tuesday - prolly looking at (10-7) record bman. Why does (10-6) Sheridan deserve to be higher? Who have they beaten?

Annnnnd how do you have Warren over Meigs????

We agreed a few years ago, that head to head results are the 'end all-be all' when teams have similar records!

Meigs still has Alexander to go before the draw...I'd say he is already figuring in a loss and that would be 2 losses for Meigs to a D3

"We" didn't agree on anything, just wait and watch. Warren has played a better schedule and is playing better basketball now. Which is what is important.

Yep, so did Athens - and so was Athens - but EVERYONE on preps said their "head-to-head" match-up with Logan Elm 10 days removed from playing in a football game is all that mattered.

Its always convenient to make an argument when it favors you. When the slipper is on the other foot - they always want to go back and change it.

I'm trying to pull your chain a little bit. ;)

Give lots of credit to Athens' kids for playing hard and upsetting Meigs, but if I'm an opposing coach I view that as a bad loss for Meigs since Athens was without Lutz.

Meigs does own head-to-head, and that is important. It's also important how your team is playing going into the draw. Meigs is 3-3 in its last six games. I also expect Meigs to lose to Alex this week, which I have factored in.

Meigs' non-league schedule, outside of Warren, is not exactly a world beater, either.

As for Athens and Sheridan, 10-6, 10-7, you can flip a coin.

The top five is very interesting this week. If FU wins out or splits, I'd give them the one. If they lose both games, they could fall to the four.

If LE beats Court House on Tuesday (I don't look for it to happen), we could be talking LE for the two spot.

Those are just the MSL teams in the sectional. If I broke down the different scenarios for Warren and the TVC schools, we'd have a small book.

It's going to be a good sectional.

The better point is why are we still having these discussions? If the district was seeded, top-to-bottom, and people could choose where they wanted to go on the bracket, like most the rest of the state does, these discussions would be moot.

All but the District Board want that. The coaches definitely want it and I really don't even think it would be that difficult to do. Keep the sites, find the closest sites for the teams and go from there. If Unioto and Marietta are matched up, play it at Logan. Warren and Washington, play it in Jackson.

That keeps it from being home games (which would be a fine option as well) and keeps the sites getting their money, which we all know is the main thing keeping this from happening.

DO NOT GET ME STARTED. NOT ONLY IS THE SEODAB ARCHAIC, THEIR EXPLANATIONS OF WHY THEY DO WHAT THEY DO IS MORONIC. LOOK AT THE D2 BRACKETS AT THE SOUTHEASTERN SECTIONAL THIS YEAR....CASE IN POINT. THE #2 SEED WHOEVER THAT ENDS UP BEING GET ONE DAYS REST AND PREP FOR THE SECTIONAL FINALS AND THE ENTIRE REST OF THE BRACKET GETS 2 DAYS. THE POWERS THAT BE NEED TO CHECK THEIR EGOS AT THE DOOR AND START TO DO WHAT'S BEST FOR THE GREATER GOOD. WHICH IS THE STUDENT-ATHLETE THAT COMPETES. IT'S AN ABSOLUTE JOKE THAT THEY DO THINGS THE WAY THEY DO. IT'S POMPOUS, POWER-DRIVEN AND TIME FOR CHANGE. WE NEED NEW, YOUNG BLOOD ON THAT BOARD. BLOOD THAT WANTS WHAT IS BEST FOR THE ENTIRE DISTRICT, NOT ONE OR TWO TEAMS, OR THEIR OWN SELF-INTEREST. HALLELUJAH, AMEN.

The coaches and schools vote on the format folks, many of you fail to realize this. Om sure one big bracket will work, let's send Belpre to Eastern Brown on a Tuesday night. Let that happen to your team and this board will blow up.

And if we seeded them all, you guys would be ludicrous on trying to select the top 15 seeds, heck you can't agree in the top 5 in a simple bracket of 9-10 teams

And this reflection back to the Warren over Athhen question of years ago, I'm pretty sure I never weighed in on this. Personally if you truly want to advance, you've got to play them all. And I believe that some will be disappointed come next Sunday. Meigs schedule has not been very strong, and this will matter.

The argument over seeding depends on one's goals. If you only care about winning a Sectional then your seed is Mega-important. If you want to win the District it doesn't matter as much.

You can set up a match up you really like in the Sectional, but to win a District you will have to play "Somebody."

I can assure you Mr. Bandit that all of the coaches I have talked to are in favor of one big bracket. How do you think it's done in Columbus? They have to seed over 40 teams in Division 1 and 20+ in Divisions II and III.

And no, coaches do not vote on the format. They are told what is being done.

IT SHOULD BE DONE THE SAME WAY ALL OVER THE STATE. IT IS LUDICROUS TO LEAVE IT UP TO INDIVIDUAL DISTRICTS!!

Well, you ignore the fact that the coaches vote on this.

Coaches need to have the choice as to where to go on bracket. Being placed solely on seed is not rewarding for teams.
