Fort should beat Bellaire getting them at home. Monroe will get drilled by Magnolia, they are really good. Caldwell should beat Toronto. It would be cool to see two PVC teams playing in the championships of the OVAC.
As for the league, if Caldwell beats Monroe Friday they win it outright from what I've been told. They have one league loss, Monroe has two, Fort Frye 3 and Frontier 4. If Monroe wins then Caldwell will have to beat Frontier in a make up game to share it with them.

Does Central have any more league games with them only having 17 thus far? I don't think it matters as I don't see Caldwell losing at home with their experience and how they match up with the Noles but I didn't see them winning at the Fort last week either.

How many times has Fort Frye won the league the last 10-15 years?

Monroe Central still has make up game with Buckeye Trail. Should be a good game at Caldwell Friday night against MC. MC had a player miss the 1st Caldwell game with a concussion. He is now playing. Could make a difference.

Cadets have had at least a share of the league title every year the last 10 years except the 2009-2010 season they had a down year at (11-11) but still upset the number 1 seeded Shenadoah Zeps in the sectional.

That year I believe Shenandoah and Frontier split?

As you can see Fort Frye has been loaded for years.

I wouldn't bet on that. Bellaire's pressure could pose a problem for FF.

How many of these years did they get out of sectionals? Districts? You would think with some of these regular season records they would have had some deep tournament runs. Never seems to happen though. Weird. Maybe they needed to beef up the strength of schedule and not Dans win total. Proof is in the pudding.

Dan has more sweet 16s then any coach in the PVC. Fort Frye made it to districts multiple times and sweet 16 in 06,99, 96 and Final 4 in 99. Beat (25-0) Bellaire in 06 #1 in the state. Only team in area( Washington County ) that can match them is Warren. Most disappointing finish was probably 09 Team that started (18-0) and lost in sectional final to Trail a team they beat by 50 earlier in the year.

Regional in 89 also?

Didn't the 00 team return nearly everyone from the State run and then lose in the Sectional to Martins Ferry?

And according to Wiki, FF has won 11 of 16 league titles from 2000-present. I don't remember the specifics, but I'm sure they were in the mix nearly every year from 94-99 as well.

I'm sorry I didn't see Matt Vess or Eric Henningers names listed above. Of the teams you spoke about and in the last 10 years they've underachieved something terrible. Unless you gauge success on PVC championships alone. I'd rather lose the league and win a District title make noise in the tournament. Having 20 wins and not making it out of Sectionals or Districts is NOT a successful year. FFhas no doubt had many years of regional and state qualifiers. Should have been ALOT more recent considering the names above

That is a bunch of crap. Tournament runs are certainly nice, but there are plenty of teams who don't win league championships or District tournaments. You can't just trade one for the other and you have to win a lot more games to win a league. A tournament run doesn't mean you were the best team and a tourney loss doesn't mean you were the worst - anything can happen on a given night and there's no room for a slip.

I would go the exact opposite with regard to Liedtke and say that Fort Frye rarely had the best roster, but the players executed the best system in the area. Typically they overachieved simply by being part of the machine from the time they played pee wee ball.

Frankly, it is ridiculous to downplay the ability of a coach who has taken both a boys and girls team from the MOV to the State Tournament.

Must be from Beverly. The only place where how many wins a year is the measure of greatness. Dans a great coach I'm not saying he isn't. He's proved that. But there have been amazing teams there the last decade with incredible talent. Yeah they're a machine but they're talented year in and out. Maybe it speaks to how weak the PVC really is. They breeze through that and can't get out of sectionals. What's the explanation?

Actually, went to Waterford & my kids go to Warren. I'm not a real big fan of FF, but that doesn't mean I'm blind.

FF does tend to breeze thru the PVC because they built the best program. It is that simple and you'd be hard-pressed to find a better program in the area. Belpre under Holder had a few better tourney runs, but I'm not sure they won near as many league titles (or overall games).

How many local teams have been to State or even to multiple Regionals? There are no powerhouses on that level here. So you take those special seasons and then hope to be consistent otherwise. I think a lot of people would take 15 wins and a league title 4 out of every 5 seasons along with the every so often Regional run over a roller coaster decade that produces a title or two.

Also, the teams that beat FF in the tourney are not typically slouches. Yes, they could probably stand to upgrade the schedule here and there (they don't play many games against bigger/better competition), but theye is no evidence to prove that doing so would equal a better tourney run.

Listen I'm not a FF hater by any means and don't mean to run them down. If anything I mean this as a compliment. You're right anyone would take the amount of Ws they have produced. Most teams have occasional great years and dominant teams. Few teams anywhere are able to consistently produce 16-18 Ws a year and that many league titles. But the reg season is just a tune up for tourny time. Not the other way around. Name a sport where the regular season means more than post season. I'd just like to see them get over the hump. I'm not saying they should be at state every year by any means. But to win 18 games in the PVC and not get out of sectionals is not a good year. Just my opinion. Agree to disagree I guess. Didn't mean to turn this into an anti FF post either. It's where I'm from. Just want to see them excel when it matters most.

To be clear, I don't discount the disappointment in being eliminated early either. Tournament season brings fans out of the woodwork and a couple wins makes it a very exciting time. The whole atmosphere is different; a win feels better and a loss hurts more. In the long run, though, losing one game at the wrong time doesn't make a team a failure.

Fort Frye is normally getting the other teams in the league best shot every game.
