Re: Warren Local head football coach
I know they emphasized the committee's *advisory* role, but one board member specifically mentioned the issue of hiring coaches as an example of the need. I hadn't heard any more about it so I was curious as to whether it got off the ground. Who did they appoint as the community members?rockcoach wrote:The athletic advisory committee is not there to suggest who gets hired as coaches. It's main purpose is to assist the athletic programs with ideas, like track improvements, fund raising ideas, any matters that come to them from the community. We all know that it's purpose will not be the only thing they do. They want to make decision as to who gets hired as coaches, but that's not in the committees purpose. ADVISORY not decision making! We'll see. The interview committee is 3 administrators, a board of education member, a coach, and the AD.

Apparently there is still a fired coach from Trimble available. NY got the best one so if #2 doesn't come with him he should be available. Or just call Phil and ask him who he has gotten rid of the past few years cause word up town is he fires them as soon as he thinks they know more than he does. Kind of like the guy NY just got rid of.

Tough place to coach and consistently win. Do you know who the two were that withdrew their names?

Re: Warren Local head football coach
IMO
Since Mike DeVol left in 2001 they will have had 9 head coaches with the new hire.

Warren is offering position to some retired coach not from the area. Expect announcement sometime soon.

You mentioned he was retired.rockcoach wrote:Warren is offering position to some retired coach not from the area. Expect announcement sometime soon. Will he come without a teaching position?
Is he retired from teaching or did he just retire from coaching at some point?

From out of the area? Where is he from? Do you have a name or where he is from?
Re: Warren Local head football coach
It is not Mike DeVol. All I know is he is from out of area and has retired at some point.

Interviews are over and the job has been offered to a candidate. It's now in the process of seeing if he accepts, even though there are no teaching openings.
