District 14 voting- 2/14/2016
Re: District 14 voting- 2/14/2016
Roney is a special player, no doubt, but it is very hard to argue against Hall. In my opinion, for someone to act as if Roney is the clear cut choice, I disagree.

Obviously you're unfamiliar with recruiting.. That's ok, I'll explain.Beaver92 wrote:And by the way.roney had interest from Kent state, ball state. More head state and marshall. I belive they are all D1 schools she wasn't interested. She will be playing bball and vball at rio. Rio's head vball coach has been her club coach since 7th grade and it's been written in stone since then. It's not about d1 it's all about what ur comfortable with. Free college is free college!
"Showing interest" and offering an athlete are two drastically different things. Division 1 schools "show interest" to literally hundreds of athletes apiece, and only offer the ones they want. If she was Division 1 material, she would have had Division 1 offers. Even if Roney had already committed to Rio Grande, they STILL would have offered and tried to get her to commit. An NCAA D1 doesn't respect, nor is intimidated by, an NAIA program and will pursue that athlete regardless. That's just the business of NCAA programs.

Roney and Hall were the two best players last year too. But were snubbed and it was given to the senior from ND. Would have been nice to have co POY this year.sinjinian wrote:Roney is a special player, no doubt, but it is very hard to argue against Hall. I think Hall was District 14 POY last year, the other girl got Southeast District POY as voted on by the media making her 1st Team All-Ohio. The coaches selections have nothing to do with All-Ohio.

Have these been released of are we still worried about hurt feelings?

Looking at the results in the paper, I am shocked. How Emma Wardlow, a senior, 1000 point scorer, made HM as a freshman, 3rd Team as a sophomore, and didn't make anything the last 2 years. That is a shame. One of the hardest working kids I have ever coached.

I will add there are players of various sports that are D1 material that dont go D1 . Some choose not to market them selves as a D1 player , some just dont understand the recruiting process at all. I just wanted to make sure readers didnt think I was judging any particular player that was mentioned here .
Re: District 14 voting- 2/14/2016
MD2 - that is the funniest thing you've ever said "some choose not to market themselves as a D1 player" . Why would someone choose to not market themselves as a D1 player?

Some truly dont want to go a large school , some don't realize how good they really are . Lots of reason. Grades is a biggie . Most do want to aim as high as possible , some dont. Its true whether you are aware of it or not .

Why is she not hm this year then? Did the coach go?mcooper wrote:Looking at the results in the paper, I am shocked. I am unsure. I got out 2 seasons ago. Just know her and the family well. If any kid is deserving, it was her.
Re: District 14 voting- 2/14/2016
I heard that she received 3rd team honors but was omitted from the newspaper write up accidentally.
Re: District 14 voting- 2/14/2016
Hopefully she did, she deserves a chance to play on the district all star game. If she got 3rd team, did Carr or Harless receive HM? I would think both would have been deserving based on their numbers this season.
Re: District 14 voting- 2/14/2016
I was hoping one of them could get an honorable mention if Emma made 3rd team or better. I guess it depends on the number of spots available. Harless had a great season and was wonderfully improved. I think Carr was around 12 ppg and led team in rebounds as a point guard. (Could be wrong though)mcooper wrote:Hopefully she did, she deserves a chance to play on the district all star game.
