Re: Jr. high pitchers
Would guess 48-50 game speed would be your upper avg. There will be a couple around 52-55, and I'm sure there will be some slower. But looking back the last couple years, 48-50 seems to be about the avg.
Re: Jr. high pitchers
A lot of teams swear they have that pitcher who is throwing high 50s but 48-52 is probably the average with most the throwers around here.

Re: Jr. high pitchers
The realistic speed numbers are just like softball24-7 mentioned , most are 48-50 on the average , with a few kids hitting 54 or maybe 55 on occasion , but not staying there consistently . But very few are actually that number . 90% of the throwers I've seen at the NAIA level are between 57 and 60 . Only a few stay at or above 60 during the game. All about location and spin along with a little giddy up on it .

Re: Jr. high pitchers
My daughter was a junior high pitcher and I always kept a pocket radar with me. What's been said on here is correct. 55 maybe 56 is about as high a pitching speed as I've timed at junior high level. High 40s very low 50s are the norm.
