Me and some guys used to swim upstream in the death hole.People used to claim it had an undertow, but we never felt one,we liked it because on a hot summer day it was colder than the rest of the water around it.Wouldn't want to be in there in high water though, that's probably where there would be an undertow if the water was running fast.noreply66 wrote: Just like at the fall in Scotts Creek. use to be this one area where it was a lot deeper. Right on a turn in the creek. It was a little south of the dog pound but not too much. Even would fish in the pound on top of bald-head.LHS 72 wrote:OMG! Do you mean Old Town creek! Behind the dog pound.noreply66 wrote:use to be a lot of swimming right behind the fairgrounds. back in the early 60s the swimming hole at the falls was a lot deeper. Would fish over there in the 80s with the water down and it was scary with what was sticking out.cbolt wrote:Me and some guys used to swim upstream in the death hole.People used to claim it had an undertow, but we never felt one,we liked it because on a hot summer day it was colder than the rest of the water around it.Wouldn't want to be in there in high water though, that's probably where there would be an undertow if the water was running fast.noreply66 wrote: Just like at the fall in Scotts Creek. Even in the early 80's it was a lot deeper than it is now.I used to throw a line out and it would sink down so far the line would come back to the rock ledge every time like it never hit bottom.Would love to know how deep that thing was back then.Seems like everything has filled in now, when I was very young before they put 33 in around Logan people would tell how many deep holes there were in Clear Fork Creek not far from my house, after 33 went in they slowly disappeared and now you could probably walk all the way from Lake Logan Dam clear to Scotts Creek and it wouldn't be much more than waist deep and most the time it would be shallower than that.

When young, I fished that big curve in Old Town and caught panfish, suckers, catfish and some smallmouth. Always a good hole.. It was also good near the Hocking connection.

What was the names of the gas stations at the corner of Main and Spring. At one time my brother-in-law owned the one on the north side of Main.
