Pioneer Valley Conf 2016
Re: Pioneer Valley Conf 2016
Fort Frye is a machine. But things will be closer than what you think Shenandoah, Caldwell Monroe and BT all played them tight last year. Shenandoah and BT expected to be improved.

Re: Pioneer Valley Conf 2016
I really wouldn't call 41-14, and 30-8 close games. If you mean they played them tough for a quarter or so. I honestly think Trail will be a good team this year. After thinking about the league might not be as down as some think.
Re: Pioneer Valley Conf 2016
Shenandoah will be better, but I can't see more than 5 wins on their schedule.
Re: Pioneer Valley Conf 2016
Caldwell will experience a few bumps with the new coach, but they won't be as bad as some on here think. Fort Frye will go undefeated in the league.

Re: Pioneer Valley Conf 2016
Fort Frye vs Shenandoah last year was a decent game. Zeps scored 1st. Then Fort Frye scored 3 times then Zeps got a lucky Kick Return on what I believe was onside kick. It was 21-14 at half then the Cadets scored 3 more times in 2nd for a 41-14 win. Garrett Lockery touched the ball 6 times for 212 yards and 4 tds.

I'm just not sure if any teams fit. I have heard rumors of teams wanting to start a new league with Caldwell , Shenandoah ,River , Monroe , Trail, Bellaire St J, Shadyside, Bellaire ,Barnesville and Bridgeport but not sure if it's true. Rumor is teams don't want to be in a league with Fort Frye because of travel and success.

I just know Marietta and Warren seem to need a league. Both bad football programs. I know the TVC won't add anyone. The PVC is the only other area league

And if I was Fort Frye I would probably feel the same, as in no teams in the league to properly prepare them for playoffs. At least not for awhile.EasternDspy wrote:I'm just not sure if any teams fit. Do you guys think Fort Frye would be better off as just an OVAC team like Warren??? I'm thinking without a league the Cadets would have a hard time scheduling.

Too hard to schedule. Just play a couple tough non conference. NY would be a great series. I know Athens will drop Warren if they can't win any games. Athens should be another playoff contender the next few years

Re: Pioneer Valley Conf 2016
If Fort Frye left the PVC or if they were cut by other teams joining other leagues then I doubt many PVC teams would schedule them. River left PVC and will play everyone but Fort. I don't think Trail, Shenandoah or Monroe would play Fort non league. I think Frontier would still play them and maybe Caldwell. So it be tough for football scheduling. Fort Frye vs Nelsonville is my dream series so I'd love that. If Fort joined TVC the best thing would be the Ohio but it would kill travel and on certain years they would struggle in football.
Re: Pioneer Valley Conf 2016
That's true. Monroe Central is the only school in the league of a similar size. The MVL is a good fit from a travel perspective, but we'd be really small compared to most of the other schools. The TVC Hocking is a pretty good fit, but it's already a pretty big conference.Stan_Marsh wrote:And if I was Fort Frye I would probably feel the same, as in no teams in the league to properly prepare them for playoffs. Re: Pioneer Valley Conf 2016
Fort Frye is far too small for the TVC Ohio. 2015 would have been a good game since Athens was young. Hopefully Warren gets in the TVC

Maybe Fort Frye and Trimble can help each other. If Fort went to Hocking it would give both teams more competition. I really thought Caldwell was on the rise but they lost Crane and Perkins which is huge

If Fort Frye was added to the TVC: Hocking and they went to 2 divisions, I have a reasonable set up to try to help everyone geographically and traditionally.EasternDspy wrote:Maybe Fort Frye and Trimble can help each other. TVC: North Hocking Division
Belpre (1)
Fort Frye (2)
Miller (3)
Trimble (4)
Waterford (5)
TVC: South Hocking Division
Eastern (5)
Federal Hocking (4)
South Gallia (3)
Southern (1)
Wahama WV (2)
The (#) are for protected cross-over rivalries where in football, your team will always that cross over rivalry annually. So for Fort Frye in Football, they would get Belpre, Miller, Trimble, Waterford, and Wahama WV every year, and they would get Eastern, Federal Hocking, South Gallia, and Southern 3 out of 4 years; assuming the TVC would stick with the 8-game conference schedule in the Hocking Division. The TVC: Hocking could also remain round robin if they wish to and play a 9-game conference schedule.

Only problem you would have is with this the south would be so much weaker then the North.

Re: Pioneer Valley Conf 2016
Yeah, there is some imbalance with it, but it's a set-up I thought would be more intended for all the main sports rather than just football and it help the league division cut down a bit on travel. I feel like in football, I could see the round robin schedule kept for football only, instead of the divisions, and use the 2 division set-up for all the other main sports and remain in the 16-game conference schedule should Fort Frye get accepted to the TVC if the PVC dissolve. Also love the idea of Warren back to the TVC even though most TVC Ohio members find it more travel or too much travel.EasternDspy wrote:GoBucks1047 wrote:If Fort Frye was added to the TVC: Hocking and they went to 2 divisions, I have a reasonable set up to try to help everyone geographically and traditionally.EasternDspy wrote:Maybe Fort Frye and Trimble can help each other.
