Meadowbrook Job
Re: Meadowbrook Job
All four of those with second interviews, for one reason or another, are no longer in consideration. Seems like it is back to the drawing board at Meadowbrook.

Re: Meadowbrook Job
What went on with this? With the amount of talent they have it should have been easy to find a coach. Someone said they had close to 50 applicants, interviewed around a dozen, narrowed it to four and now they don't have a coach. Poor management by those in charge of this process.ferflog wrote:All four of those with second interviews, for one reason or another, are no longer in consideration. I'm just glad we didn't lose Crane out of it. I heard a Caldwell board member was butt hurt because he wouldn't recommend her husband as football coach and called Meadowbrook and ran him down. Pretty dirty move if so. I heard he got voted back in at Caldwell 4-0, why did one board member not vote? Meadowbrook missed out but it sounds like he may have been lucky he didn't get it. We are glad he's still a redskin
Re: Meadowbrook Job
They shouldn't have gotten rid of Keith in the first place, a few years back they did this once before, narrowed it down to 3 candidates and didn't pick any of them and went with a last minute applicant. Meadowbrook has the facilities that most schools would love to have.
Re: Meadowbrook Job
You had a football coach who came in and inherited a program in great shape and is going to win two years in a row and move on. Now you have a basketball program that is built by Arnold and you fired him. And now all your top choices backed out and you will not get anyone as good as Arnold. Remember this is the same school who could have had Dave Caldwell as there football coach but there were people in the community who was going to make sue it didn't happen. I am not saying Caldwell applied but it was well known of he did parents were going to fight it. The athletic director at Meadowbrook mishandled this situation and now has egg on his face.
Re: Meadowbrook Job
Still no news. I heard through the grapevine that, in addition, Todd Van Reeth turned down the job this past weekend. I have no idea what is happening.

Re: Meadowbrook Job
Todd didnt apply he was approached and said no. After hearing today I think the AD is getting the bad rap for this and it's not really his doing on any of it. Hope this works out well.
Re: Meadowbrook Job
I am hearing now that Van Reeth may not be dead in the water.

Re: Meadowbrook Job
It was announced Thursday that Martin had the job. But he didn't show Friday for open gym and he was also a no-show for summer league on Monday. Hearing now that he has had a change of heart. What a mess!!

Re: Meadowbrook Job
I really don't understand how you could mess this up so badly. The talent they return alone should have made the only difficult thing about finding a coach picking which really good candidate they wanted. According to this they had around 50 applicants and ruled out a few really good ones. Crazy. Any legitimate coach would have to look at this job now and say thanks but no thanks
Re: Meadowbrook Job
Lou "Scooter" Tolzda is the new coach at Meadowbrook.

Congrats to Scooter, thought he was into retirement. Older than most dirt around the Meadowbrook campus.

Re: Meadowbrook Job
So you fire an experienced, proven coach who won over 50 games the past three years, completely screw up the process, then hire a guy who couldn't have been in the top ten of those who applied, is older than your previous coach, and not as accomplished. Unbelievable.
Disclaimer: I don't think much of scooter as a coach, I was told he didn't vote for my son or any of his teammates for an all star game they deserved, and got in to, a few years ago. His teams are very undisciplined and just run up and down the court and chuck the three. He'll win games this year but they won't get to where Arnold would have gotten them
