Pioneer Valley Conf 2016
Re: Pioneer Valley Conf 2016
Trails schedule isn't bad for football in the coming years after leaving the PVC.
Week 1 - Caldwell
Week 2 - Newcomerstown
Week 3 - Barnesville
Week 4 - Claymont
Week 5 - Indian Valley
Week 6 - Strasburg
Week 7 - Malvern
Week 8 - TCC
Week 9 - Sandy Valley
Week 10 - East Canton
The two crossover games are killers in Indian Valley and Claymont but would not be worse than Ridgewood, Meadowbrook and Fort Frye who they play this year. Trails schedule gets better for them with this conference.

Well eventually they will have crossover games vs Garaway , Hiland , Ridgewood. Also like I said before that East Canton trip will suck. I'm sure nobody wants to travel to Canton for a JV game.

It's time for Barnesville and the good tradition to join the PVC. I think it would start a nice Fort vs Barnesville rivalry.
Re: Pioneer Valley Conf 2016
Trail will never play Garaway, or Ridgewood after next year in football and hiland doesn't have football.

Re: Pioneer Valley Conf 2016
When talking Hiland I was talking other sports. Why don't they they play Garaway or Ridgewood?
Re: Pioneer Valley Conf 2016
Because Trails crossover games are IV and Claymont. Trail is in the small school side. So they will play all the small schools.
Re: Pioneer Valley Conf 2016
Trail going to East Canton will be equivalent to going to going to Frontier
Trail going to Malvern and Sandy Valley will be equivalent of going to Fort Frye, so two long trips instead of of one.
Losing Shenandoah is tough, but Newcomerstown, Indian Valley and Claymont would be about equivalent to that.
Keeping Barnesville, and Caldwell were priorities because of the proximity.
Strasburg and TCC are not bad trips at all. Would probably be equivalent to West Muskingum.

I just still don't see the logic in changing leagues just to change leagues. What are some of the benefits of the IVC over PVC? Not meaning to be rude just wondering
Re: Pioneer Valley Conf 2016
I agree with you. I don't see the benefits either, I was just providing facts.

It can be salvaged if the league can find a new team or teams. If they don't I feel some teams could look elsewhere.

Re: Pioneer Valley Conf 2016
Barnesville would work well, similar in size, similar proximity. Being an east district school helps too.
Morgan would work well, their football program has been a train-wreck for about a decade now. Heck, Shenandoah beat 'em. The one negative is the size disparity. No, I'm not talking about competitiveness and who wins vs what, I'm moreso referring to tournament time. Would be the only D2 East member for sports such as basketball, in the PVC, if they joined.
Belpre would work possibly well from a competitiveness standpoint, but Belpre to Woodsfield would be ridiculous. Plus they stand nothing to gain from leaving the TVC-Hocking.
Crooksville wouldn't work well at all. The travel from Crooksville to Woodsfield and New Mat would be too much. There isn't much potential to generate any worthwhile rivalries, certainly none that would replace what they've crafted across decades and generations with Sheridan and New Lex. SE district school in an E district conference wouldn't be optimal either.

Re: Pioneer Valley Conf 2016
Crooksville and Morgan can not compete in the MVL that's just a fact. Crooksville is a southeast team that only plays mostly East teams now anyway. I agree some of the drives would suck but not be much worse then Trail to New Mat. Also Belpre has some crappy drives in the TVC.
