The eagles should win some conference games in year number 2. Martin is looking to be the favorite to take over the QB spot him and Gray prolly going to take the bulk of carries. Got a new D.C and with Cruze,Martin,Tomlison leading us on defense all good tacklers. We have gotten bigger and stronger so I look to win some games and make conference tougher.

Oak Hill and Symmes Valley always seem to be towards the top. Its good to hear Eastern's program is taking off well!

Oak Hill may have to go younger this year, watch for Johnson to do a good job at QB. Fisher is a major contender for back of the year. Oak Hill wins 5 in a row.

How is Northwest looking in this race though? Coming off a 7-3 year but with a new coach.

Green has been dominate in the lower levels the last few years. Talent is starting to come up but still a couple years away.

So has Northwest they have a group coming up that went undefeated in Jr high good football players. we recently had a kid come to Eastern that was from Northwest and he is big and athletic. Eagles look to have a good backfield if our line holds up I think we have a good year.

Crabtree boy his dad got a teaching job I believe and coaching football. He just a freshman but seems pretty athletic. Eagles have a 7on7 at Jackson Thursday Oak Hill be there too. Good chance to see how all 3 teams backfields and receivers are doing.

Oak Hill won't be at Jackson Thursday, they have three schools coming to their place. I know Piketon is one of the teams

Should be a competitive SOC1 this year. I think Oak Hill wins another gold football.

Oak Hill lost a lot of good Seniors last year, Including there best defense player in Willie Harris, the SOC 1 Lineman of the year and best Offensive player and big play maker in TE Cody Swann . I think this year that they will be to inconstant at Quarterback and receiving and be mostly a running game . They will have a couple of good running backs if they can can any blocking. I look for them to go 4 and 6 or 5 and 5 at best.

Word on the street is that Northwest football has dropped down to only 22-23 players. New coach running kids off? What is going on out there?

Northwest kids aren't used to working as hard as Coach Montavon works em. He's teaching these kids what it's going to take to get back up to the big division of the SOC and be able to compete at that level.

Hard to win games in any division when you don't have numbers and kids keep quitting.

I've lived in the Northwest area all my life. My mom's people went to school here back when Bill April was first hired as the football coach. Any coach who has ever come in here and tried to work these kids always face the same issue. They quit. Coach Montavon could be easy on the kids and have 45 or 50 kids out. We'd continue to beat up on these little schools that struggle to field teams every year due to the small number of boys enrolled in the school. The community would be happy with 5, 6, or even 7 wins every year. To get to the next level it takes extraordinary effort. If you want to be like Burg, Valley, and the Jackson's of the world you must do what they do. There are some great classes coming thru NHS in the next few years that need the message that Coach Montavon and staff are sending. If your going to play football at NW it's going to take some dedication. It don't take 50 guys to win at football. It takes 11. I would rather have 22 guys who won't quit than 50 who will lay down and take some of the beatings we have taken thru the years. When you accept mediocrity out of a person then mediocrity is what you get.

The last 2 years are the only time in the past 16 years that they have had a winning record vs SOC 1 teams. Why would you think that they could continue winning 5-6-7 games a year? With only 20 kids on the roster they will not be able to field a jv team. Symmes Valley, East, and Eastern all field JV squads and they are half the size. I hope they can sustain the success that they have the past couple years, although they lost a lot of good seniors last year. That with a new coach and new system I could see them struggle this season.
