Now I may not be good at math, but if I did my calculations right yesterday I counted around 30-35 boys for the Hornets. If that is the case that would be one of the lowest turnouts that I have every seen in my near 40 years on this earth.

you all putting ironton in the number 1 spot better re examine(they lost practically entire team) doesn't RH & CG bring back practically entire team?

both those teams played toe to toe with ironton last year and I look for both to beat tigers this time around and don't count peake out I don't know what they have returning!!

so the 1 and 2 spot will be RH , CG throw peake into mix if they return a lot! tigers are looking at a 3rd or 4 spot in ranking.

Was told there were 37 out for first day of physical fitness. Not sure if this included freshmen.

Chesapeake has around 40 out this year, which is the normal it seems like for the program. Hopefully the Peake can take the OVC this year and knock off Ironton. Lots of playmakers on offense, but it's up to the defensive front to get a stop or two. The Panthers will give up a lot of points, but should score even more

ironton, Portsmouth and gahs by their addition has changed the face of the league in all sports. and created new rivalries. that is all I was saying. not that any one team would dominate the league. it's about as even steven as a league could get across the board. enrollment wise, talent wise, no major cities to draw from.

I enjoyed reading the comments and answers to my questions...I think the season will be filled with many twists and turns and will be a fun season to watch!!! Can't wait for it to begin...Best of Luck to all the OVC teams!!

If everyone could please say a prayer for one of the RH freshmen, he was in an ATV accident and has broken his hip and sacrum....he's going to be alright but sitting out football for a while is going to hard on him...he's a great kid!!

How do you get scouted by Div.1 schools when you have played so few high school games?Must be one heck of an athlete? Hope the skill level of these new players are as good as you say, but we will see. Go Tigers!

Things are much different today in sports, than when many of us played ball. Kids start attending camps and combines in junior high school now. Colleges attend many camps throughout the summer along with numerous scouts and coaches attend combines where many kids who attend smaller high schools get noticed. I do believe in many cases coaches like to see game film to know how a kid reacts in a game situation, however, many coaches are looking at athletic ability along with work ethic. They also are looking at grade point average and test scores.
