Re: Top Jr. High Boys Basketball Players in Southern Ohio
There are a lot of good players in southern ohio- but here is a good listing of some and i hope the names are correct.
All these kids are going into the 9th grade
point guard- Devon Kelley- waverly
shooting guards- Whitley - wheelersburg he can also play the point
shooting guards- Jake Kretzer- paint valley
center- Malike London- Chillicothe
Foward- Josh Garrett- Chillicothe
Foward- Blake Yates- Lucasville Valley
There is also a very good guard from Portsmouth West, post player from Huntington Ross (Dillon Gragg), and a good shooter from Minford. Jackson has a trio of good players including a decent guard in McNelly.
Of the kids listed above the most varsity ready players are Kretzer and Yates. Whitley would be but he playes for a "powerhouse" team. Kelley really handles the ball well and Garrett is good in post but they are not as ready as Kretzer and Yates. London has the biggest up-side and may play up if he gets stronger (He is about 6'7'')
If anyone can remember these kids names or anyone else i have left out add to the list. Over-all a lot of good players coming in the future.

soon-to-be 8th grader Chad Lands from Eastern Pike is a great guard. Last year he led his team to a 15-1 record with the one loss being a very controversial game at Notre Dame.

I watch Trent Arey play against the peebles high school boys and the kid can play.

If your looking for a good player try Kody Wolfe. 8th grader at Southern Jr. high School. Pretty impressive PG. He turns the ball over a lot but once he gets past that he will be a great PG. Good shooting and dribbling and he also has a positive attitude.

I know from coaching against both of them, Chad Lands from Eastern and Trent Arey from Peebles are both for real.

i agree lightle.
but in the soc u got mcbee & massie from the burg.
but waverly has daniel evory a transfer from morgan co.(ohio) to go along w/bolin-hitens & ferguson.
so the soc is going to be a great talent pool in the 8th grade level.

Re: Top Jr. High Boys Basketball Players in Southern Ohio
well u have....
Piketon w/the 5 redshirt 8th graders plus isaac brabson & Ryan (sid) accardo.
Eastern(pike) w/the lands boy who is very dominant w/a dominant big guy in tavares pickett.
Waverly w/the addition of evory & white to go along w/ferguson,williams & bolin-hitchens.
Western(pike)probably the weakest of the teams but a good guard but a little under sized who makes up for it w/great quickness, then a good big man in brady lambert.
& thts just the 8th grade.

Re: Top Jr. High Boys Basketball Players in Southern Ohio
Lightle 04 We won't see you this year, your AD scheduled a different team so best of luck this season. Peebles is playing Piketon and Vinton County in a scrimmage at Piketon before the season and I'm anxious to see the teams. Trent played AAU ball with some of these kids. Isaac Brabson is an excellent player, plays hard, nice shot, and a great attitude. I haven't seen any more of their players but they have an excellent coach in Bud and will do very well. Vinton County has an excellent team with several good players. LB Remy an 8th grader plays as hard as any kid I've seen and he is skilled. Coaches always ask for 110%, this kid gives that and more. There are some fantastic teams and players at this age level all around southern Ohio so it should be a alot of fun to watch this season

Coach Arey,
We (being Western) would like a chance to scrimmage against you all if you have a scrimmage open. Message me and let me know. This would be nice due to the short distance between our schools.
Thanks
Coach Jason Claytor
