I agree with you Mister B.. remember the days when Belpre and Warren played the last game of the season? Kinda like the Buckeyes and the Wolverines.

So I was playing around online and actually found the resolution that the Athens City School Board passed in July 06 to leave the SEOAL and join the TVC:

Page 9
REGULAR MEETINGNG
JULY 19, 2006
2007-012
ACCEPT MEMBERSHIP IN THE TRI-VALLEY ATHLETIC CONFERENCE
The Athens City School District Board of Education approves the application and invitation to join the
Tri-Valley Athletic Conference:
Motion by:
Scott Nisley

Jeff Dill

Cathy Cordingley Yes
Roger Brown
Yes
Discussion: Superintendent Carl Martin told the Board that the TVC voted last night to accept Athens
application for membership. Jeff Dill asked how soon the change would be completed. Carl said it
would take about 2 years to become fully effective due to scheduling. Cathy Cordingley asked why we
would want to change leagues. Carl said there were several reasons including travel time to the new
SEOAL schools such as Zanesville, Chillicothe, Ironton and Portsmouth, lower gate attendance at home
and of our fans going to these locations, stability of the league with other schools looking at their
options. Jeff Dill asked if all the coaches were on board with this move. Carl said yes they were. High
School Principal Mike Meek had discussed this with them and that boys soccer would be the most
effected since few TVC school currently have soccer. However, they were in the process of forming an
independent league and several TVC schools have said they were starting or contemplating starting
soccer programs.

Does anyone think TVC schools will start soccer programs in the future?

I would like to see NY and Fed Hock play again. It would help complete the whole "county tournament" thing.

Also, Fed has done a great job the last couple of years bringing their football program up. It would be nice to see everyone in the County play everyone else.... Just a thought ;-)

As far as TVC schools starting a soccer program... I don't care if everyone else does it, as long as NY doesn't :!: I think it is nearly impossible in this part of the country to have BOTH a good soccer program and a good football program in a school the size of NY.

Just not enough kids and not enough talent to stalk the shelves of both teams........ And I would NEVER choose soccer over football ;-)

It seems that one of the few things we can all agree on here is a common bond of disdain for soccer

Is the date with Wahama confirmed? It is on the WVSSAC site as confirmed but I was told on another board that it was a "mistake".

It is too bad that Athens filled that date with Wahama, if so. Point Pleasant might potentially have an open date on that date if Logan (WV) goes to AAA again. Oh well.

The game that would have been with Greenville(OH) could have been a good one.I have made the drive to Greenville once to watch the Greenwave kickoff a season. Sadly they got whacked and the fans we set near were rude.

I don't see where athens doesn't fit right into the SEOAL. . .
all the big schools in the area are in that league
and I thought they did fairly well in most of the sports??

WOW  :!:

My question is, why did you all schedule them in the first place, after you all decided to leave the SEOAL :?:

I could see why you all kept Gallipolis on the non-league schedule, but Logan? Especially with there tract record against your Bulldogs the past 25 years in football :?:
