frogger,

Actually visited ironton football .com. in 2001-03-05 Ironton beat their neighbors. Kind of like an intrasquad scrimmage for Logan. Nice victories in 02-04.

I am merely saying in this century the Ironton games i have seen have not been state champion or regional champion material It is getting to be a long stretch. I mean the last state championship was before these kids were born. I take nothing away from the past of Ironton. In fact supported their march to the state. However it was apparent to me in 2003 that while Ironton was good this century, they were no longer overpowering. I think the posters from Ironton have been the big reason so many posts get under the skin of Tiger supporters. I am just saying 5-5 this makes my projections look pretty good. Following a 6-4 season last year. Actually 6-5. Ironton is now 11-10 in last 21 games. Does that sound like Ironton football to you??

For the Logan posters, this mornings area newspaper came out with the weekly H.S. football picks. 12 members of the area sports media pick match-ups each week and a heavy number ( 9 of 12) pick Poland over Canfield. Poland should be considered a slight favorite. A Canfield loss helps the Chiefs in play-off opponent possibility. FWIW.

As far as your prognostication goes you said the last four years not the last two, you cant change the perameters of your statement midstream simply because you are wrong. Of course the last two years have not been great but Ironton has been in just a wee bit of a transistion period if you have not noticed i.e. coaching upheaval.
You can predict what you want to but I see bright days ahead, will it start Friday? no, logan has a very good team this year and they should win. When Ironton went 3-7 in 1996 after making the playoff 14 years in a row many people said oh the end is near---state finals three years later

If this thread proves nothing else, a league affiliation helps to create rivalries. With rivalries, you get enhanced fan interest. You get smack-talkers. You get insults. You get hard feelings. And you get a lot of bluster about a game that, at least on paper, should be a completely one-sided affair in favor of Logan.

After the game, you can bet that the guys on each sideline will be lined up and shaking hands. Still as rivals, but with respect for the other sideline. Let's hope some of that attitude shows up from both sides on SEOPS as well. Until then, I am sure that the SEOPS guys appreciate everyone's patronage.

Not so fast. and stay on topic. We were talking playoffs. You changed the rules and went to regular season. The only proud victory you have is the one over Desales. I think that 2001 team must have been good.

I saw the ot game against Bellaire. You should have won. The Ironton of old would have won. You point to the ot loss with pride. i point out that it was an idicator of a chink in the armor. the chink has just become a black hole. As fro turmoil, you brought that on youirself. And Lutz can not coach forever so you get no sympathy from me there. It is part of the natural order of life.

Still no championships of any kind this century and no state championships since these kids wer born.

You have a very proud history.

D1 I keep telling you it does not matter who we play. Just lace them up and show us what the Chiefs have. It will be one of 4 or 5 teams.

since when does the regular season not count, if only the playoffs counted for quality wins how does a team make the playoffs. I do not point to the the OT loss as a point of pride I was responding to your statement that Ironton has had no regional championship caliber teams recently and clearly they have. It is true that Ironton has not won a state title since prior to the births of the current players but you must understand that the titles they do have came ten years apart 79 and 89 there has never been in threepeat or even repeat-you try to make an argument that since Ironton has not won a title since 89 that the program is somehow on the decline. Until 2002 OSU had not won a title since 1968 does that mean that during the 1990's that the program was in decline even though they had top 5 finishes just like Ironton had three top two finishes? hardly There is no decline it is not a great year but it happens

Listen up. You are the one that posted Ironton playoff results.
I have no problem with the regular season. Heck Logan is the champion.

I said they had no regional championships. i know they played as previously stated i saw the game.

Comparing OSU and ironton. Kind of a stretch. You can do better.

If you have been reading SEOPS for very long you know the Ironton brotherhood promised us SEOAL chamionships just like the old days. i guess you could say the Tigers have been exposed.

OSU to Ironton is not a comparison but an analogy you can look that up. This is going in circles which I assume neither one of us has the time for. We can talk playoffs or we can talk regular season Ironton has quality wins in both

But help me out here since you so easily trash Ironton's scheduele as beating their neighbors, showing no respect to proud tradition rich programs such as Wheelersburg( state champ 19 playoff appearances) and Portsmouth West( state runners-up this decade), who outside of your neighbors has logan knocked around? I went all the way back to 02 and could not find one.

i remember those hollow promises from last season. then this pasted summer more hollow promises after they ran a good triplet out of town and lutz came back. :lol:

I got news for you all -- titles are going to be few & far between for the tiggers in the "new" SEOAL. I said so 3 years ago before play began. They'll be lucky to win it all once every 4 or 5 years from now on .

YOU asked about Ironton's playoff wins. Stay with us. Don't worry about analogy, way too many syllables. I can only speak for myself, I never promised SEOAL dominance. I believe what I said was that the new SEOAL would be probably the toughest league in So. East Ohio. I was not a big supporter about getting back into the SEOAL. More to travel concerns than anything else, and not for football(We traveled anyway), but all the rest of our sports, both genders.

To use analogy Logan has been playing in the D-1 playoffs kind of like being in the Big 10. Ironton's division is kinda like the Mac. Hard to compare. Like I said we play against the other people in our county in practice.

Like I said Ironton has a nice history.

Now if you are not one of the posters who runs off at the mouth about how Ironton was going to RULE the new SEOAL, then don't take my comments personally. Maybe you do not need to be corrected. But believe me plenty of your neighbors have had way too much to say and have not backed up what they say. i would say the Chiefs get my back every week. Many said oh wait until Zville gets a hold of you. Sorry Logan dominated. then it was Ptown, well i am sure I don't have to go there.

Bottom line Logan has won 4 consecutive SEOAL titles this century.
