Re: WK3 Portsmouth(2-0)@Wheelersburg(2-0)
First time in a LONG time this game has the potential to be a good one. Both teams coming in 2-0.
Could be a big computer points game for whoever wins. Last time both came in at 2-0 was 2007 and that was the last time Portsmouth won this matchup.
This game used to be THE game in Scioto County back in 70's and 80's but has really lost its luster. Should be a good crowd come Friday night!!!!
Good luck Pirates!!!!!

Did Burg and Portsmouth even play each other very much in the 70's and 80's.yabbadabbadoo wrote:First time in a LONG time this game has the potential to be a good one. Both teams coming in 2-0.

They've always had the athletes, it comes down to fundamentals and discipline. This years team so far, seems to have those ingredients together moreso than any other team I've seen them field in the last ten years.
Portsmouth football has been in a "decade of despair" but hey, it's been right at ten years since they've had a halfway decent team. The program just might be due, folks. It's been a long time. Again, talent has always been in the school. They finally have the right staff in place all the way down to middle school. Times are a changin.

Why is this funny? It's absolutely true, Portsmouth is by no means a state championship contender but they are on the verge of getting out of that dark whole they were in for some time. The only thing I disagree with is the 10 years since we have had a good team. Back in 09 Portsmouth went 7-3 I believe and missed playoffs by a point. That team was solid so they should be given credit, otherwise great post! So not really sure what's funny?

Your response is so intelligent, must've taken a few hours to figure that out.

I am excited to see this game. I think we will see a close game til the half. After that Burg will make all their adjustments and exploit the weaknesses they have found. That is one thing that sets The Burg coaching staff apart from the rest IMO.

I don't really see what's so hilarious either. I hope for the burgs sake that the Trojans get back to playing good football.PTrojan59 wrote:tobehonest wrote:TrojanXplosion wrote:It's the toughest game for both teams by far in this young season. I consider the 2009 Trojan team solid. However, that 68-14 Burg game at Portsmouth was a serious black eye.

If Portsmouth can force a couple turnovers they can make this a competitive game. If Burg doesn't give away the ball, they win by 21

Gonna be a better game then those from the Burg think. Watching both teams the Trojans are way better on the line both sides of the ball. Burg is very fast though. Looking forward to a good game.
