Jackson 49 West Jefferson 9
Re: Jackson vs West Jefferson...Week 3
If Jackson puts Williams in at fullback it changes everything. He's a power runner that's hard to tackle and he can block for the other backs. Get the run established and it opens up the pass.
Re: Jackson vs West Jefferson...Week 3
Exactly, Morgan's soph and jr years he had an experienced line and a stud fullback in Exline, his senior year was filled with a different makeup of talent. Even old school Blackstone knew to mix it up and use Morgan and Reed's abilities. Reed IMO had the best set of hands of any Jackson receiver ever and Morgan could definitely throw it.JacksonSouthie wrote:That's two quarterbacks in 30 years and 1,000 yards passing is nothing. Morgan started for 4 years from what the older guys tell me, and really didn't start throwing it around until his Senior year when Ryan Reid transferred. Humphrey's was just an all around great athlete that ultimately chose to play baseball. Just saying no one in Jackson is grooming a gunslinger. Going from throwing 5-10 times a game to throwing 15-20 times a game is a huge difference in high school ball.
I believe Hall will be fine as each week his comfort level with the receivers grow and the line continues to improve.

Re: Jackson vs West Jefferson...Week 3
You don't have to have a power back to have a power running attack. You only need to win the line of scrimmage and make holes for your rbs to run through.
And throwing the ball 25 times is fine, when the scouting report calls for it. My instincts were saying run the ball against Chilli...I believe that is how Johnston beat them, and I believe we dominated the 2nd half doing the same. If we do that for 4 qtrs, we win that game...just sayin
and it would be wise to run against the burg too, that's how we beat them 2 yrs ago, and trying to beat them playing their style and tempo is not wise, especially in their house.
But we're all just a bunch of armchair qbs blowing smoke. The kids play the games, the coaches call the plays and teach and prepare our young men to the best of their ability.
And the coaches have done a wonderful job the last few years...and the boys an even better job representing our school and tradition! Bottom line!!!

Just like meigs coach son is QB and it is definitely all about him when I was down there last week the fans were not very happy with the coachesironman02 wrote:Does this mean advancing further in the playoffs, or are you talking about being able to play college football?JacksonSouthie wrote:

God Bless High School Football Fans...
All it takes is a single loss for folks to turn against the coach, especially if, god forbid, he try anything different from the past 3,000 hallowed seasons of Our Team football.
I might be the only person on here who remembers a Jackson team that had David Swisher and a Brennan in the backfield and only finished 6-4 playing "Jackson Power Football."

Re: Week 3 (1-1) West Jefferson @ (1-1) Jackson
Since our long time SEOAL buddy Ironman99 is pulling for Meigs it seems VS the Chiefs, I'm going with West Jeff by 17. I've always rooted for Jackson when they aren't playing the Chiefs.

Re: Week 3 (1-1) West Jefferson @ (1-1) Jackson
Just for the record, I wasn't implying Jackson's HC was throwing more just because his son is the quarterback. If that's the kid's strength then you obviously scheme around your player's strengths. Just saying it's not easy to flip from a 5 headed monster backfield rushing offense with a mobile quarterback to a pocket passing quasi-spread/pro style offense that slings the ball around 20 times a game. It's just simply hard to do... Jackson will be fine. No one goes 10-0/9-1 every year with a deep playoff run, some classes are just better than others.

I think we look good mixing it up a little more it keeps the defense on there toes.

Nothing personal to the chiefs.

Hoping that the Ironmen will be highly motivated tonight following last week's disappointment. If they play well, I think this is a game they should win. This is the last year for the West Jeff series, so a win here would mean the Ironmen took 3 out of 4 against the Rough Riders.

Nothing says Ironmen football like beating up on a Division 6 team at home. Go big red 49-9!!!
Re: Week 3 (1-1) West Jefferson @ (1-1) Jackson
After early problems Jackson looked great. Line gave ample time, Hall made some great passes. Cam Williams was scary out there. Frisby and Roseberry were everywhere. Farley was solid. Reid Evans was excellent...very impressive.
Blake McCoy was a highlight reel. The shot he delivered while running the ball was one of the hardest hits I've ever seen put on a defender by a RB. Great interception, great punt return, huge TD run, long TD catch and the 98 yard kickoff return with a great juke and then pull away speed.

This was the response I had hoped for from the Ironmen. Nice win against a solid program.
Good luck to West Jeff the rest of the season, and in the future. Classy program.
