Teams that would be awesome to see the Pirates play
Belfry, Ky(Ironton made the drive many of times)
Beechwood, Ky(Another foe Ironton played)
Tri-Valley long drive, but both teams would bring a lot of fans
Hurricane, W.Va just a little over 1 hour away

we can't help teams won't schedule us. we contacted several northern oh teams last yr and at least one in wv. none would schedule us that's why we ended up with nch. i know next season we picked up bishop watterson and i've heard dayton chaminade julienne

Martins Ferry? 4 hour drive
St. Clairsville? 4 hour drive
Coldwater/Marion Local/St Henry? all at least 3.5 to 4 hour drives.

The talent is down here in Southeast Ohio and the teams that have talent, Athens, Logan etc do not want to play a DV school that they could possibly lose to so they won't schedule Burg.

I get sick and tired of hearing people say Burg needs to upgrade their schedule when there are no options.

Dontreply, ur a chump. I went back and checked some of your post. U sound like a salty fan, maybe burg smacked your team around or something? IDK.. But since you wanna know.... Burg tried to schedule several schools. None were afraid as you say, IDK what the specifics are. I do know that cable Midland, Wayne, and Huber hight all turned us down. Ashland, beachwood, and Johnson Central all turned us down.. Olentangy, pickerington. And Svsm all turned us down. At any rate, burg wouldn't have these schedule problems if other schools weren't OK with being mediocre..

This is what people don't understand about SE Ohio programs trying to "schedule up". You can't just go out and hand pick your schedule. There have to be openings, and there also have to be schools that WANT to play you. Most schools from the major metro areas don't want to drive all the way to Wheelersburg. They also don't want to drive all that way and then lose.

Burg would play with all of these schools and consistently beat 3/4 of them! They would all be nice additions. However, scheduling is a freaking nightmare. It's nice to say you want to play these schools, but sometimes it just doesn't workout. Both teams have to have the same openings and need either an away or home game opposite of the opposition.... So many variables

I know and it sucks. We have tried for several yrs to schedule several bigger schools in the area. We just never have open dates the same. That or they won't schedule us

No it wasn't a fluke nor was the last game against portsmouth. IMO this yrs team is just as good if not better than last yrs team and they can win it all

So let's assume that this league was formed three years ago and Wheelersburg fills out its schedule with Jackson, Russel(?), and Portsmouth, or maybe Logan Elm, or maybe Valley. What changes? Burg still goes 10-0 or 9-1. And I do not think 'Trimble would want that league year in year out.

Good Points, They also do not want to play a DV school, when they have very little to gain even with a win. Especially larger WV schools, DV ohio teams do not help them very much even if they were to win. SO in a nutshell, very little gain and a lot to lose.
